    Sierra Precision Grip Mod

The Sierra Precision Grip is probably my favorite grip for a precision AR but one of the drawbacks is that the inside of the grip is hollow and it's weirdly shaped so there were really no options for storage. I decided to do something about that so I brainstormed some ideas and what I came up...

Badlands "Shell Shock" 5.56 - snake oil?

I'm stocked up on IMI 77 gr myself and need to get some more, the AAC 77 OTM is decent for the cost but slow.

Badlands "Shell Shock" 5.56 - snake oil?

Haha this is true, I can get hits with crappy 55 gr ball to about 500 but I think they’re mostly marketing this to those pushing small frame AR’s to 600+. The point I was going for is that shills are going to hype the hell out of the velocity but ignore that in terms of wind and ft/lbs it’s...

Badlands "Shell Shock" 5.56 - snake oil?

Muzzle velocity sells ammo but BC gets hits.

Badlands "Shell Shock" 5.56 - snake oil?

Mk 262 Mod 1 was peak 5.56 77 gr ammunition and anything since seems to be diminishing returns in one form or another, in my opinion. The Badlands NAS3 85gr Match Burners sound interesting and might warrant a closer look.

Badlands "Shell Shock" 5.56 - snake oil?

Running the numbers, theoretically, if I shoot this out of my 16" gun, which is currently getting 2675fps from IMI 77 OTM and we up that to 2800 fps (taking the middle ground), it's not THAT impressive. IMI is 4.9 mils to 600 yds, goes transonic around 750 yards, needs 1.0 mil wind deflection...

Anybody seen a gun wrap in person?

You can throw a stick and hit at least one or two hydro dip companies in most locales, especially south of the Mason Dixon. When I had my chassis parts done I used a local company, someone hardly anyone would really know of, and was pretty satisfied, it's still holding up well too years later...

    Sling Studs to Flush Cups

You misunderstood. He was talking about adapters that let you attach a flush cup swivel to a stock equipped with standard sling swivels. Grovetec makes a similar product.

    Dallas school shooter

Despite extra security measures at the school, Haynes was able to enter through an unsecured door. "So it was not a failure of our staff, of our protocols, or of the machinery that we have," said Dallas ISD Police Chief Scott Smith. I don't know chief, it seems like a failure of the staff and...

    Competition .223 muzzle break help

I've been pretty happy with the PRI Quiet Control brake. It's not blasty from where I'm at and it offers good recoil control. When I'm switched on I can do about 1/2 second splits on a IPSC at 400 from prone.

If Overton Windex made a movie

The movie is dumber than that. Willis' team does get extracted but on the way back they fly over a village and see everyone has been slaughtered. He gets all up in his feels about it, tells the pilot to turn back around like it's Uber, and they get dropped off at their exfil point. Turns out...

    Gear - First Road Match

Speaking of shooting in the summer, the prevailing instinct is to try to stay cool but wearing shorts and a t-shirt but in my experience it's actually better to wear lightweight long sleeve shirts and pants and steering clear of anything cotton. I've seen guys get lobstered pretty good on the...

    Gear - First Road Match

You know I think that's actually important to remember. It's not hard to forget to eat something when you're baking out in the sun, prepping for a stage, or shootin' the shit, then before you know it you're hangry and making mistakes. I've been to matches where they'll provide a lunch and...

    Gear - First Road Match

When I was traveling for matches I took basically the same stuff as far as gear goes, maybe only throwing in a cooler and extra clothes of course. Misery is a good teacher, I will take extra shoes or boots and extra snivel gear because there's room for it and why suffer if you don't have to...

I don't think Clay Spencer is building rifles anymore. I think WAR Rifles is still in business, there's also Sterling Arsenal in, well, Sterling, VA.

LOL I've written for four of the ones on that list, GunsAmerica, Springfield Armory, FMG Pubs, and Accurate Shooter and experiences varied. I haven't written anything in a while because nothing was really interesting to me anymore, but a lot of the stuff out there is contrived and repetitive...
