6.5 SAUM: Whats the big deal

I think Boiler Up hit the nail on the head. The difference in BC is very significant and allows much more room for error when milling targets for distance or making wind calls in a timed event such as a match or when you're out hunting.

Anyone have a Mcmillan A4 or A5 in Austin or College Station?

I'm not in your area, but I've had both and preferred the A5 over the A4. For me, it was more comfortable to get behind and shoulder. I'd recommend going with an adjustable cheek on it as well.

    Rifle Scopes Which aim point?

I'll throw the Aimpoint Micro T1 2 MOA in also. To the OP, you and I have similar jobs. My T1 has been great. It's seen many a thousand a round, and has endured quite the beating in the trunk of a Vic. I had an EoTech for a couple of years but got tired of turning it on and off. The Aimpoint...

300 WM 1:8 or 9 twist, has anyone tried this?

I'm curious about those running the 230 grain Berger Hybrids. I've read somewhere that a 9.5 twist is optimal for these, as they can't reach their potential in a 10 twist.

    Rural Homeowner's Insurance

Thank you guys for your responses. I'll be calling State Farm tomorrow. I got a nice quote from Farmers as well. The area in which I reside (AO for you snipery OAF guys) is rated a 9/10 for fire danger. I had Chubb (insurance, fucksticks) but they dropped me and are requesting the local FD does...

    Rural Homeowner's Insurance

I guess it's a bit off topic even for the Bear Pit, but I'm curious about the members who live in a rural area on more than 5 acres of land and who you guys use to insure your home. I've had about a 3 month long headache with my current policy and shopping around, but finding anybody who...

cheap factory ammo vs match grade factory ammo...???

This hobby isn't cheap. If you want to practice the fundamentals, get a rim fire rifle and shoot 50-100 yards. It will allow you to work on good positioning, trigger control and follow through. For shooting at long distances, say 300 yards and beyond, I'd recommend shooting match ammo if you...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 Quality vs. Price

You may want to look at Nighthawk again, they're much less than $6,000. Half that will get you a beautiful, hand-fitted pistol from them. I have one and love it. Their customer service is nice as well. I know they're still pricy, but when you get one in your hands, you'll see why.
