    I hunt with both and they each have their own advantages and drawbacks. If I had to pick only one, it would be the thermal hands down.

    Was lucky enough to score a double on 2 Hogs. I shot them with a 6.5 Grendel that I built with a Criterion 22' heavy barrel. I have a N-Vision HALO 50 Thermal mounted on this rifle. Hunted my friends property located about 15 miles east of Sarasota, FL.

    I use a straw from Mac and Don's Supper Club, it's worked just fine for me. In higher winds I tape it down in the notch.

    Might get an answer by reaching out to Federal Cartridge here in Minnesota. I use to call on the engineering and maintenance group a few years ago and would definitely asked the question if I did, but I am no longer working for that company.
