    Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 Comparison

Re: 1911 Comparison For a factory 1911 the SIG and STI are hard to beat. What ever you get it will need a trigger job, lawyers. If you want a laser it's easy to add with the grips later. The Dan Wesson custom shop 1911's are super nice, see the cover of American Handgunner this month. I know...

Movie Theater Girl With the Dragon Tatoo...seen it?

Re: Girl With the Dragon Tatoo...seen it? Hope to see the movie this weekend, almost finished with the second book in the series. If it holds true to the book should be a good flick.

Rifle Scopes Anyone Look through a March 1-10X scope?

Re: Anyone Look through a March 1-10X scope? Looked at one at last years Shot show. Granted hard to tell much in a basement with limited distance. My impression is much the same as VTB, very fine reticle that was hard to pick up on low power. Nice scope with good turrets and the glass was...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 22 Conversion

Re: 1911 22 Conversion Got a Tactical Solutions for my STI. Very well built unit with threaded muzzle for suppressor. It was a little tight on the frame so had it fit so it would run reliably. Didn't take much, and didn't alter the frame, just the slide.

ballistics "click" table for 69gr. 223 20" brl AR?

Re: ballistics drop table for 69gr. 223 20" barrel AR? 69's to 800 is a pipe dream, maybe 600. Velocity is needed for an accurate range card, would guess they are running in the 2750 to 2800 range. rough come ups are: 200 1.4 moa 300 3.9 moa 400 7.1 moa 500...

Suprisingly 223 still seems the best round for SPR

Re: Suprisingly 223 still seems the best round for SPR There are several 6mm (6 RAT, 6 Turbo, etc.) rounds that will push a 500 bc. bullet to 2750 to 2850 depending on barrel length and powder selection. They will also push an 87 gr. V-max @ 3000 fps. which has a little better bc than a 77...

    How much land to buy?

Re: How much land to buy? You can get almost 1000 yd. on an 80 (440 X 880 yd) looks like 990 yd. You can also use the figure of 16.5 ft. wide for a 1/2 mile is 1 acre, 33 ft. = 2 acre and so on. Helps to figure acreage when looking at a place. Hill in the right place makes a nice berm, two...

Rifle Scopes Burris XTR Opinions - 5.56 100-500 yards

Re: Burris XTR Opinions - 5.56 100-500 yards I tried one (XTR) for 3 gun and couldn't get used to it. The graduations are course as is the reticle. Dumped it! Now the Burris Fullfield Tac 30 1-4 X 24 with illuminated ballistic plex works much better for me. They also have the Ballistic CQ...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Need a good .22 pistol

Re: Need a good .22 pistol Find a used Ruger MK II or III and put a Tactical Solutions upper on it. Mine runs great and is threaded for my AAC supppressor. Very accurate and light weight, even with the can attached. Runs with subsonic 22LR.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Talk me into a CZ SP-01

Re: Talk me into a CZ SP-01 I'll be up front I like CZ's, Carry a Compact CZ 75 around the farm most days. Also have a 85, 40 S&W 75, and a SP-01 with most of the competition upgrades. The SP-01 is a bit on the heavy side, fine for comps and quick follow up shots. Mine is very accurate...

Re: 22 Suppressor Host Opinions Find a cheap Ruger MK 2 or 3 and put a Tactical solutions upper on it. Pro's, light weight, very accurate, threaded barrel, runs, good trigger, and a holster to use with suppressor attached. Con's, uh, nope can't think of any.

    Take on Primers?

Re: Take on Primers? Have used Win., Rem., Wolf, CCI, and Fed. I've seen significant SD improvement when testing different primers, but it varies from one caliber to another. Fed. 210M works best in my .308, while Rem. 71/2 SR Bench work best in a .223 bolt rifle. As Casey said Wolf SRMag...

what Squeeze bag filler thats light weight

Re: what Squeeze bag filler thats light weight Bulk plastic beads that are used for blow molding. They look about the size of a rice grain and work really well, no downside that I've found. We have a lot of plastic molders in the area (Rubbermaid, Husky liners, K-Sqare) so easy to come by...

How many of you "actually" shoot 500yds+ often?

Re: How many of you "actually" shoot 500yds+ often? Depending on what is planted and what time of year it is, usually have targets from 100 to 900, every 50 yd. out to 500, then every 100. Short stuff is for 3 gun practice, and the longer is for F-class and UKD steel match practice. Closest...

Gunsmithing Designing a Compensator. Any Input?

Re: Designing a Compensator. Any Input? Your project seems to be a worthwhile endeavor, but as mentioned a little more research is indicated. From what I see from the drawing here are my suggestions. 1. The angle on the side ports would be more efficient if 90* to bore, the angle you have...

    Rifle Scopes Swaro Z6I-BRT 1-6

Re: Swaro Z6I-BRT 1-6 Jay, I e-mailed Swarovski and they actually e-mailed me back in about an hour. I understand the elevation part of the reticle, standard mil. The windage on the other hand, as explained to me by Michael Sequeira of Swarovski amounts to a ballistic windage reticle. By...
