Expected concentricity out of new Lapua brass

Re: Expected concentricity out of new Lapua brass You have to fire form them and full length resize before you can get to where you want to be.

    Who uses a concentricity gauge?

Re: Who uses a concentricity gauge? My concentricity measures less than .0005 ( that's less than a 1/2 of one thousandth) as measured on the case, neck, and ogive using the Sinclair gauge. How I get there is by using Redding Type S Fullsize bushing match dies, neck turned Lapua Brass, and...

    .308 brass question

Re: .308 brass question Weighing cases tell you nothing of case capacity which is more important. There can be variances in the case heads which will skew your results. Always weigh case capacity with alcohol (at least 91%). There is air in plain water and is not as accurate. Weigh your...

Reccomended .308 bullet weight for short range

Re: Reccomended .308 bullet weight for short range If you have the right twist for the barrel burning 155's then go for it. The tried and true 168 SMK's on top of 4064 is still winning matches at 300 and less.

    neck turning and it's issues

Re: neck turning and it's issues Buzz- I'm running two 10 twist barrels. A Hart and a Spencer, both tight bores. Didn't see a need for a .337 neck when I had them chambered. Hardly imperfect gear as you say. A .340 neck is just fine for an F T/R .308. I shoot the Berger 185 LRBT's with...

    neck turning and it's issues

Re: neck turning and it's issues I find that new Lapua brass varies in neck wall thickness of .005. I turn all my new brass to the smallest wall thickness. Some cases receive a .005 cut while others hardly have the annealing discoloration skimmed off. After turning, I use a .335 bushing...

Range Report am i the only one frustrated (ballistic programs)

Re: am i the only one frustrated (ballistic programs) I'm with Kraig on this. Although I have Shooter for the iPhone, I usually set current conditions, calculate, and send to my computer where I print a copy to take to the range. Range time is best spent reading wind and mirage than...

    how often do you anneal

Re: how often do you anneal LC is quite hard brass. Anneal and resize would be my choice if I was going to keep this brass. If accuracy is your goal and you are shooting a bolt gun, sell this brass and buy new Lapua or Winchester brass.

    F T/R Competition Centershot Bipod

Re: Centershot Bipod Have been out several more times with my Centershot at 600 yards and can't say enough good things about this bipod. I have been using a tactical style rear bag, until a Benchrest guy let me try his 15lb. Edgewood Rear Bag. What an improvement! In combination with the...

F T/R Competition Impact Data Books F-Class Book

Re: Impact Data Books F-Class Book The Impact books are nice. I recently had Staples make up some bound books using the plot sheets you see here. 50 double sided sheets per book. Separate books for Mid-Range and Long-Range. Works perfect and the cost was about $8-10 each for 20 or so books.

Re: nightforce for f class only I have a 12-42 and a March 10-60. I leave the NF at 42x almost all the time and the March at about 45x. I had a 5.5-22 NF when I started and had no problems at 600-1000 yards, but the 12-42 and the March were big improvements for shot placement. Mirage is...

Which 308 bullets work well with a long jump

Re: Which 308 bullets work well with a long jump In my 10 twist, I shoot the Berger 185 LRBT's. The bullets measure 1.363" and I have jumped them from .005 to .040 with good success. I settled on .008 as that is where I was getting my best ES/SD's.
