    Using a 308 case gauge for 7mm-08?

    Actually 270/280/3006 isn't as straight forward as the 308 family...mainly because there was never a SAAMI recognized 270-08 chambering. See, a 308 cartridge simply won't fit in a 7mm08 chamber, so there's no danger in a mixup. A 7mm08 cartridge fired in a 308 chamber isn't dangerous either...

    I've always found it easier to find a great shooting load towards the top end. Always more difficult ( for me) to get a load tuned in that's weaker.

    Yep, will work fine as body and headspace dimensions of 243/260/7mm08/308/338Fed/358Win are all the same. Be aware case overall length varies amongst these, however. Also, the 280 cartridge is not in this same family. It is in the 30-06 family.

    240 Weatherby is indeed a belted case, and the answer is no - it can't be used to form 6 Creedmoor (or 6 Comp Match for that matter). If you want to form 6 Creedmoor, start with Lapua 22-250 or 308.

    My experience has been the 168smk is the easiest bullet to get shooting well I've ever used regardless of caliber. Not to say the 155s and 175s don't also shoot well, but the 168s are just extremely insensitive to seating depth and charge. I don't think I've ever had a "bad" load with 168s...
