    I'd guess because 36" still gives a 1 moa target at 2 miles. That will get tough to see already in mirage, dust, etc. Maybe a 36" steel with an 18" scoring center would be legit.

    I've been reading here a bit more lately. I'm still enjoying my 308s and 30-06. I see the focus now seems to be on 6mm, 6.5mm, and big 375s. I suppose I've become an 'old timer' of sorts, as I don't have any interest in re-rigging every couple years to keep up.

    I've been lurking now and then. i'm glad the forum is no longer part of that Scout lashup. I'm still shooting the 308 and 30-06, dabbling in some AR stuff a little bit. Nothing 'cutting edge'.....grin.

    Very nice shooting and thanks for sharing. I like stretching the 308 out too, but I'm not twisted to handle the flatline bullets. They really take the 308 to the next level.

    I love shooting steel, but it's a lot easier in this terrain to just pick out a rock about .25 mils or so in size. Public land too.
