    308. vs 30/06 accuracy.

I handload and shoot precision rifles in both chamberings. Don't think there is any difference in accuracy potential, it's all about a good rifle, and good ammo. Given equal barrel lengths, the 30-06 has 150-200 fps more velocity potential, if one knows how to capitalize on the 30-06's larger...

Vortex 30x Mil reticle eyepiece question

I have the MRAD eyepiece and the 65mm Razor. 8 mils on the MRAD reticle at 23X, equals 10 mils on the SWFA 12X scope. Basically the mil value as measured through the 65mm spotter needs to be multiplied by 1.25 to equal true mils. Kind of a PITA, but at least it is a workable reticle. I...

Range Report Super short .308 Win velocity

Nosler reloading manual (fifth edition) has load data in the handgun section for 14" barrel. Top loads with the 168 gr are between 2433-2484 fps.

Range Report Debunking Courtney's stability myths

Bryan, you are a HUGE credit to the LR community. Your quantified research is pretty much the best available. You really don't need to go down this road. But I can understand your actions here. THANK YOU. Shane

    30-06 with 208 Amax and RL22?

That's a good place to start. I'd work up in 1.0 gr increments. Shooting moly'd 208s, I used 60 gr RL22 in Norma or Win brass with CCI 200 primers for 2800 fps from a 26" bbl. I pushed up to 64 gr in a test to find obvious pressure signs, and started seeing ejector marks and flatter...

Rifle Scopes SWFA 20x42 FNG focusing question

Look through the scope at the clear sky, no clouds or other objects.. Focus the reticle using the +/- eyepiece. (reticle should now be in focus at all distances. you should not need to adjust this ring again). Now look at distant objects through the scope, and use the parallax ring to...

    High End Spotting Scope Recommendation

I picked up a Vortex Razor 16-48x65 a few months ago. My first quality spotter. Also bought the 23X MRAD eyepiece for added versatility. I'm very happy with it.

Rifle Scopes SWFA 12x42 or 16x42 for .223 varminter?

I'd go 12X (or 10X). The MRAD reticle is fairly fine, and doesn't subtend much, making it very usable at 12X for ground squirrels, prairie dogs, etc. I've got two of the 12X MRAD, mounted on LR rigs (308/30-06) My older 16X mildot/moa is getting lonely sitting on the shelf.

    Ruger American Predator

I've got the RAP 223. Scoped it with a Vortex Viper 3-9x40. No complaints. Decent adjustable trigger, and it shoots well (sub-moa). I've only used it on prairie dogs at 150-300 yards with 40 gr VMax handloads. If yours has the 5/8 x 24 threads, you might look at Badger Ord...

Rifle Scopes Which Scope for my Remington 700 SPS Varmint Rifle in 308 Win.??

After using Leupold MK4's for years on my LR 308, I switched to SWFA 12X MilQuad reticle on 45 moa rail. Couldn't be happier. I can dial a dead-on hold to a mile without being topped out.

    Range Report 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17

I've been mostly neck sizing with a Lee Collet Die. Also use a Redding body die to bump the shoulder back when they start getting too snug in the chamber.

Mine darked with the oil, but still like a dark medium brown. If you are wanting something more like chocolate brown, you might need to get some leather dye.

I rubbed a generous amount of olive oil into mine, twice, it softened it right up. I'm 6'3", the standard length seems fine. The long might be more for the folks who are bigger around.

I have a 1 1/4". Love it. Simple, effective, well made. Use it on everything from heavy boltguns, sporter, to Marlin levergun. Using the loop end aft for a hasty loop sling,

Hunting & Fishing Best range to Zero a .308

If you have some 'down' available in your elevation turret right now, definitely crank it down, probably about 25 moa or so if you have it. If that's the case, you should be able to work with what you have.
