What's up with my lapua brass

to determine proper bushing size: load bullet in Lapua case, load bullet into REM Case. MIC outside diameter of both. The Lapua will be .001-.003 larger then the REM case. Take the total OD and -.002 for each case, this will give you the bushing you will need for each king of brass. The REM...

Need some insight on loads with light ejector marks/swipe on hotter days.

The Bisley reamer was made for the Palma matches in the UK. Over there they check your chamber and throat to make sure tis within spec when you brink your rifle over. I don't have the dimension's here, but I recall that some of the dimension's are generous and its designed to shoot a sierra...

    SMK 155 recipe?

46g will do it. Seat .02 off lands.

interpreting ladder test with 155 lapua scenars and varget,

I would try a single 10 shot group with 46g and see what happens, its a common load that lots of palma shooters use with several 155's. I think your just hard pressed to get the 155 Lapuas to shoot in that factory barrel with such a long throat. The 175 SMK is a more forgiving bullet then the...

What's up with my lapua brass

ID is inside diameter. It's going to be close to bullet diameter but slightly less to provide neck tension after sizing the case. A .260 rem bullet is .264 bullet, -.002 should be .262 or so. The fired ID of the neck should be .265-.266, if its smaller then that on some cases then your brass...

    **6 Creedmoor**

There is too much neck tension or too much powder in the case.

Need some insight on loads with light ejector marks/swipe on hotter days.

What weight bullet? What rifle? I cant see the pics, it this is a gas gun then you can get extractor marks if your not quite sizing the brass enough. Check to see that you can easily close bolt on a stick of sized brass and open without any difficulty. 30 deg will raise pressure a little if...

    Free bore and COAL

That's what you will usually get with a factory throat. The Brits are concerned about possible excessive pressures with their rifles to the extent that when you take a rifle there to shoot in some of the INTL matches they will check the throat and chamber dimentions and if its too tight they...

Geees!!.... is this the usual BS when reloading the 357sig?

What diameter are the bullets that you are attempting to load? I think that .357 sig bullets are .357, not .355 (9mm) but i'm not sure so a 124g intended for 9mm will not work quite correct in a .357 sig. I also believe that if you are using lee dies, they will have multiple dimensions for the...

Load development with Magneto Speed chrono

Guys that I have talked with that shoot them in HP and F Class say that accuracy is not affected but POI is, so after adjusting into the center there are no issues. they say its helpful when confirming a high or low shot and looking at velocity numbers to confirm/ deny. It also provides them...

What's up with my lapua brass

Its your neck tension difference between rem and laupa brass for sure. What do the lapua groups and chrono results look like compared to the lapua groups? What is the ID of the fired lapua brass? If your rifle has a small neck then you might need to neck turn the lapua brass to ensure a...

Hornady 6 Creedmoor brass primer pockets loose?

There was a Precision Shooting article years ago that published the primer dimensions, and there is some variation. When my .308 WIN brass was worn out no primers would stay in unless they were glued in there. I too have found that the Tula primers are harder to seat, especially LP, I think it...

    Question on .223 loads

As long as the loaded ammunition will fit in the magazine you are ok. Too short or too long can cause problems. I think the standard OAL for .223 is 2.250. Some of the shorter bullets will end up seated shorter in the case and they usually work fine. Many times with some of the bulkier...

    temp sensitivity powder question?

H4350 is a little slow if its for .30-06 (is that's what a .06 is) I believe all the Hodgden "Extreme" is supposed to be temp insensitive but I have never tested it. I would think you are better off with varget or 4895.

    Extreme spread observations

I ran some numbers today on the JMB calculator in an attempt to confirm of deny some effects of velocity spread on drop and the corresponding effects on target. When I test ammunition for competition I do so in 10 shot batches and look very close at Extreme spread and to a much lesser extent SD...

Any sources for 1F Federal gold Medal brass?

Yes. One can get 1X WIN or REM brass too.

    30-06 berger 230 OTM

you are going to need a very fast twist barrel to shoot those monsters; good luck.

Any sources for 1F Federal gold Medal brass?

Do what you want but i think you will be much better off in the long fun with other then FC brass to reload. The primer pockets open up very fast. You used to be able to find 1X WIN or REM .308 that should work as well or better.

    Controling Runnout?

Sorry to hear that your .223 is not as hot as you would like it to be. I suspect that a new barrel would help quite a bit.... Before you do that you might try to skim bed the action into the stock. I have had good success with this in the past on 3-4 factory varmint guns. You bed the action...

    175 SMK's at Long Range ?

Running a quick calculation of a 175 SMK at 2700: 800yd 1430 FPS, 900yd 1310 FPS, 1000 yd 1210 Fps. You will be just fine at 800 yds, past that things will get iffy. Its quite common when shooting a Palma match (800, 900, 1000) for everyone's factory rifles and ammo to do well at 800, start...
