    30-06 build for long range!

Yes you would need a new bolt with a .473” bolt face. If you build either one, use a good brake like the APA and it will recoil nice and easy, just not for the people beside you. Nothing wrong with a 7rem mag but the 30-06 with good hand loads will give damn near similar performance with...

That’s too bad, I was going to buy one until I saw that. Going custom now.

    30-06 build for long range!

2941 with 175’s, that’s awesome! I was going to build a custom 30-06 but now I’m going to buy a 30-06 conversion kit for my Desert Tech SRS. I’ve wanted a precision 30-06 for years. So great to see a few people here keeping the old war horse alive!

has anyone here physically seen the new 30-06 barrels that Desert tech makes? Just curious if they are the standard barrel profile or the light weight hunting profile, the website doesn’t say. I realize they aren’t popular so it’s a long shot.

I wouldn’t be surprised at internal issues but I truly hope, if any of this video is true, that it’s the come to Jesus moment they need to pick up their socks. I’m pretty invested in the SRS platform and hope they succeed in pulling through what ever this is.

Appreciate the thoughts. This kit will just be my cheap to load, low recoil fun barrel for general shooting on steel out to probably 800 max. Maybe the odd the coyote and I don’t shoot to save fur. Anything further than 800(or more energy required) I’ll use the the 30-06 or 338.

Good to know. Do you think it’s worth trying anything heavier like 85/88gr with the 26” barrel? Or just stick to 75’s and keep it simple

Got my 223 kit today. Waiting for some 80gr ELD’s then I’ll take it out for some testing. 223, 308, 338L so far and a 28” 30-06 PVA prefit on the way.

I bought it (very lightly) used, few hundred rounds on it. I’m up in Canada and ordering a new kit from SAC is a pain in a** and there’s one distributor who sells them up here and they price them quite high. And they only offer 18-22” barrels, wanted a longer one. Took some patience to wait for...

Finally snagged a SAC 223 kit with a 26” 7.7 twist Bartlien for my M2. Should show up next week, can’t wait to have a 223 in the rotation again.

Has anyone had any luck with trigger mods to the newer A2/M2 trigger to get rid of creep and lower the weight a bit? My M2 has an inconsistent amount of creep. It's always there, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. Once it finally gets through the creep it breaks crisp. I feel like this trigger...

Another option for a great crossover scope is the March FX Highpower 4.5-28x52. It has a massive FOV compared to most so 4.5 power has been plenty low for close in stuff for me and having 28 on the high end is great for long shots, and it’s light enough to not be a boat anchor. I’ve been using...

What are the chamber dimensions like on the factory DT barrels? Just picked up a factory barrel for a screaming deal and it’ll be my first 338. Have a bunch of Lapua brass and plan on using 300gr scenars.

I agree with you in theory. Not looking for light with this setup, just looking for a steel smasher that has some more weight out front. I would go even longer than 24” but there is a used barrel already made with only 20 rounds on for a decent price.

Interesting info. I was just about to buy a 1.250” 24” 6mm creed barrel for my M2 but this has me cautiously rethinking that. I know @Dogtown uses some 1.250 barrels in his M2. @Dogtown have you had any issues like this with yours?

That is the perfect design, imo. Seems way better thought out than the ABR.
