AICS magazines for 270 Win - inner length?

If you use the 30-06 3.715” mag from MDT the max internal length is 3.615”. I use them for 30-06, lots of room.

Want to build (or send to have built) a MDT ESS. I have no idea where to start. Help me please

Then I would go 22” medium Palma 6.5 Creedmoor with 5/8xmuxxle thread with a good 3 or 4 port side discharge brake like a Insite Heathen/ Area 419/ PVA etc.

Still any love for the 6mm GT???

I’m planning on a 6GT barrel for my Desert Tech SRS-M2 because it’s the smallest 6mm I can run in those mags. I was on the fence until Lapua announced brass, pushed me over the edge. Planning on a 30” 1.250 straight contour. With the short overall package of the SRS might as well go long and get...

Want to build (or send to have built) a MDT ESS. I have no idea where to start. Help me please

The ESS chassis has a few options for length of hand guard and folding rear stock. Folding stocks are great for cleaning and transport, well worth the upgrade. 18” 6.5 creed still has pretty good performance and shorter overall length can be handy. If you’re trying to stay on a budget, I...

Accuracy International AT-X or Sako TRG22A1

While not the exact same rifles, I had a TRG-22 and an AX308 and in the end I liked the TRG better. The barrel change on the AI is awesome but I found I didn’t have a need to swap short action calibers that much, usually stuck with one barrel. AW mags are definitely better, but I never had any...

New to long actions with a few ?'s

The HNT26 in “rem700” long action will only take the 3.850” mags. 3.715 will not work. The only long action HNT26 that takes a different mag is the Tikka version which takes their 3.56” mag. Which would actually work pretty well for a 7prc.

Best brakes for combo recoil/ride reduction while directing blast away?

The new Gen2 Heathen has been amazing for me I was looking for the exact same thing for my 22” Desert Tech 308 barrel because it’s so close to your face you get a lot blast with most breaks. This brake cuts the recoil just as good as the rest and the 90° ports means practically zero blast felt...

New to long actions with a few ?'s

The long action HNT26 will only accept the 3.850” mags. Shouldn’t be a deal breaker though, just buy the 300win 3.850” mags and see how it runs, will probably be fine. Worst case, the mag lips might need a little tweaking.

Self adhesive camo bandage from Amazon, mostly to protect the scope from nicks and scrapes. I wrapped my grip too and it adds some grip and comfort, liking it so far.

Got a Heathen gen2 to try on the 22” 308 barrel. I think the straight ports will be much more comfortable to shoot.

    Sako S20 280ai build

That’s unfortunate. Sounds like the whole rifle isn’t worth the risk. Really too bad because, on paper, there’s a lot to like

Finally got out for some more testing today. 178 ELD-M’s with CFE223 patterned like a shotgun. Not sure if it’s the ELD’s or the CFE, but the 22” factory barrel hated that combo. Second pic was 43.8grs of IMR8208xbr with a 155 Lapua scenar at 2850fps. Definitely pulled the one on the right...

Rifle Scopes Advice On "Do-All" Optic for 2 Caliber Origin Build

To me, the perfect crossover scope is the March 4.5-28x52 FX Highpower. Excellent mag range, FML-TR1 is a good reticle that isn’t too busy, wide angle eyepiece with crazy files of view, great glass, great turrets with super easy zero stop and and weighs 29oz.

    Spuhr, ZCO, now A419 mounts

Not as mainstream, but an amazing mount, is the Near manufacturing Alphamount. Machining is work-of-art level, made with a proprietary titanium alloy so not too heavy, and available in all ring sizes up to 36mm and a bunch of different heights. His website hasn’t been updated in forever but he...

A top tier brand that often gets overlooked is March. I’ve been super happy with mine and my 2 shooting buddies also converted. One has the same 4.5-28 that I have and another has the 5-42 and they have been amazing.
