Rifle Scopes Mark 4 4.5-14.5 TMR reticle pic at 1K

Re: Mark 4 4.5-14.5 TMR reticle pic at 1K Okay. Duh. I just saw the illumination switch, so I assume it is SFP. In that case, how do you like the illumination feature? I keep telling myself that FFP is a more useful feature than illumination (and on the Leupolds, they end up costing...

    New FN SPR A5

Re: New FN SPR A5 I was looking at custom actions when I started reading all the good press on the SPR. I picked up some actions from CDNN just before they ran out and am looking forward to doing several custom builds of my own. I do wish the high-end barrel-makers would offer chrome...

My new .308 from Robert Gradous

Re: My new .308 from Robert Gradous That is beautiful. Is that replacing anything in the collection or just adding another bit of variety?

    Introducing the Whiskey-3 Chassis!

Re: Introducing the Whiskey-3 Chassis! I think the FN SPR guys deserve some folding-stock love. Really, that thing is amazing, though your mag adaptors have me almost convinced to take the plunge on a TRG 22.

    Finally...ordered an Atlas Bipod

Re: Finally...ordered an Atlas Bipod What do you think of the Seekins rail? It looks like the best conceived of those listed, and I have been looking to standardize on rails so I can switch my not-yet-purchased Atlas between rifles. Right now I've got two McMillans and a B&C to outfit.

    Best .308 Ammo Prices?

Re: Best .308 Ammo Prices? Palmetto has the 168 M1A OTM load for $14.95, and I have heard it is comparable to GMM.

Atlas bipod discount raffle for servicemember

Re: Atlas bipod discount raffle for servicemember This is one drawing I am glad to have plenty of competition in. I was pretty shocked to see this--I mean, I knew people here were cool, but a $200+ bipod?--and am glad so many people have thrown their names in. Thanks Hink and Brand!

Idea for a new cartridge: 7mm Practical; 180 VLD

Re: Idea for a new cartridge: 7mm Practical; 180 VLD OMN, That is pretty impressive. How long did the barrel last? I am sort of fixated on barrel life since it varies so dramatically depending on the cartridge and is a major factor in the cost of actually shooting the rifle.

    NEW MCMILLAN TACTICAL STOCK...

Re: NEW MCMILLAN TACTICAL STOCK... Looks awesome. I am glad to see the Winchester/FN action is getting some love. I can't wait to see the finished product. You guys are making it really hard to pick a stock design!

Idea for a new cartridge: 7mm Practical; 180 VLD

Re: Idea for a new cartridge: 7mm Practical; 180 VLD Bacarrat, I am not doubting that there are barrels going strong at 3k rounds, but for every guy who can say that, several more are having to replace barrels at 1000-1500. I don't know enough to pin down the variables, but everything I...

Idea for a new cartridge: 7mm Practical; 180 VLD

I have been researching options for an upcoming build in .284. I really wanted to be able to use a short action, but 162s are the heaviest bullets I can load to mag length without severely encroaching on powder capacity. .284 loads pushing 180 VLDs are usualy loaded at 3.1-3.2 inches OAL while...

    CDI DBM on FN SPR

Re: CDI DBM on FN SPR I won't have time to get it installed while I am home on mid-tour, but I will be sending my next build his way for DBM before I head back here. At just over $300 installed, you really can't beat it. I'm reserving judgment of the factory DBM on my FN until I can use it...

Gunsmithing FN SPR mods for AI mags-some ??? on variables

Re: FN SPR mods for AI mags-some ??? on variables Thanks for the info and the links. I think we will give it a try on our own, though I will probably still send my first rifle to CDI so I know what "right" looks like.

    Steyr SBS opinions please

Re: Steyr SBS opinions please Since it has been resurrected, I think the SBS is a better rifle than "equivalent" American guns. I have a .308 HB in a McMillan stock that shoots wonderfully, especially for a factory gun with factory ammo and an unbedded stock. I would not hesitate for a...

    FN A2/A4 Question?

Re: FN A2/A4 Question? I bought a few SPR actions from CDNN for future builds. Based on the reputation of the actions, I expect these to be good rifles if I do my part. I think the SPR is a nicer action than any of the other domestic "sporter" actions until you get into the high-end custom...

New To LR Shooting... Using 7.62x54, help please!

Re: New To LR Shooting... Using 7.62x54, help please! Agreed. There are plenty of pawn shop Savages out there in common calibers, many of which have hardly been fired. Find one in .223 if possible. I also agree that you should get a .22 and practice as much as you can in the meantime. You...

My Sako TRG 42 .300 Win Mag- holy chit.

Re: My Sako TRG 42 .300 Win Mag- holy chit. Yeah, I would really like to get one of these at some point. The .300 seems to be out of fashion with most guys going down to a 7mm for paper or up to a .338 for killing stuff, but the .300 still impresses me, especially with those 208/210 VLD...

    winchester 70 actions ?

Re: winchester 70 actions ? The FN SPR is basically a short action 70, and those have gotten a lot of good reviews for accuracy and value. The 70 is a classic design and it has some features you don't see on many other domestic rifles (controlled round feed, three position safety). Go for it.
