SPS Tactical or FN SPR A1a

Re: SPS Tactical or FN SPR A1a CDAT, Would you mind posting some detail on your magazine mods elsewhere on the forum? I know a lot of us would like to see how it is done and how they hold up.

SPS Tactical or FN SPR A1a

Re: SPS Tactical or FN SPR A1a DT310, My experience was extremely similar to yours. Our MWR phones went down over a week ago and since we are a little COS, nobody has gotten out here to fix them. Mike needed an FFL copy and took the initiative to look them up. He called and had a faxed...

Rifle Scopes Springfield Armory Scopes ?

Re: Springfield Armory Scopes ? Ditto. Mine is 1st Gen, and while it is FFP and has a decent reticle and glass, I couldn't justify spending more on it than I would for a VX-3 or a used SS 3-9. I plan to use mine on a .308 semi-auto, since I am not sure about click repeatability and it is...

Rifle Scopes SWFA Super Sniper 5-20X50HD

Re: SWFA Super Sniper 5-20X50HD 5-20. 10 mils per rotation. Great reticle. Way-above-cost-point glass. You guys are going to make it hard to justify a scope from another maker.

Laminated stock better than a cheapo synthetic??

Re: Laminated stock better than a cheapo synthetic?? I think cheap synthetic stocks are the worst stock you can have on a precision rifle. Even a cheap wooden stock can be bedded properly. A stock made with laminate or even on piece of dense, properly-treated wood can be just as good...

SPS Tactical or FN SPR A1a

Re: SPS Tactical or FN SPR A1a Tactical Coordination has A2/A4 models for $1495. That plus a SS 3-9x42 off the SWFA Sample List ($499) would be a great rig. I have one coming my way when I am home on leave that will be set up just like that. My take on it is that you can always upgrade...

SPS Tactical or FN SPR A1a

Re: SPS Tactical or FN SPR A1a I had a long talk with my gunsmith before buying an action for my next build. He has built a lot of 700s (because everyone thinks they are the greatest) and says they are good actions, but they require a good bit of work to bring them into spec. I asked if it...

50, 408 or 416 which one would you pick

Re: 50, 408 or 416 which one would you pick .50 BMG. I can't see hunting with a 17 pound rifle any more than I can see hunting with a 28 pound rifle. .50 BMG costs less to shoot than any of the real exotics, has long barrel life and an abundance of components and, at the end of the day...

338 Sin and why it was developed

Re: 338 Sin and why it was developed Looks very interesting, especially with the ease of conversion from a factory .338 Win. I think I would try to optimize it for the 300 grain bullets. It is pretty much splitting the difference between the Win and Lapua, but the 300 grainer really seems...

Rifle Scopes SWFA Super Sniper 5-20X50HD

Re: SWFA Super Sniper 5-20X50HD Agreed. "Value" is relative, and if it meets or beats Nightforce and Leupold in optical quality and features at several hundred dollars less, I think it will be a winner. If the glass is truly comparable to the top-of-the-market scopes (S&B, USO, Premier) it...

Rifle Scopes Stupid Question: LE and Military use SFP?

Re: Stupid Question: LE and Military use SFP? I have been on active duty for six years and have never seen an FFP scope out here. Granted, they may be bouncing around in AFG, but the snipers and DMs I have seen have all had Leupold Mk4 variables (4-14, usually). Far from a bad scope, but...

    Win 70 in 7mm WSM

Re: Win 70 in 7mm WSM +1 on keeping the stock barrel for now. The barrel will go south faster than a .308 or .260, so by the time you have gotten comfortable with it, you may be needing a new barrel. A word of advice: figure out what replacement barrel you are going to want now and order...

Which one Armalite AR-50 or the Bushmaster BAR-50?

Re: Which one Armalite AR-50 or the Bushmaster BAR-50? I'm getting hooked up with a McMillan, but if I weren't, the AR-50 would be at the top of my list. I joined FCSA last year to help me do my hoomework on .50s and you might be surprised how many matches are being won with the AR-50...

Gunsmithing New CNC day at the seekins shop!

Re: New CNC day at the seekins shop! Wow! Nice machines, Glen. Do you think some of that extra free time will roll over into product development? Not that you've been slacking, but I figure trying out new things has got to be more fun than tearing down and setting up for established products.

Gunsmithing Boring black stocks: where to have them painted

I have seen some impressive stuff on here from .30CalSniper. Do any other forumites paint stocks professionally or semi-professionally? I may give one of my cheaper stocks a try myself, but taking krylon to an $800 McMillan is a bit more than I feel comfortable with right now.
