Subsonic shooting, noise vs barrel length

It's something you'd have to figure out for each load there isn't a rule. Too many variables.

CDI FN action modification for AICS

I remember it being a very minor operation which I think Jeff did for free on mine. I wish I remembered the details.

    Tikka re-barrel for 7prc or 280ai

You say rechamber but do you mean rebarrel? I ask because you first mention 270 and then talk about 7mm projectiles.

    New Barrett MRAD ELR?

Euro Optic has them listed at $9700.

8.6 Blackout accuracy and barrel twist

My point was that nobody makes them. That website throws flags and has been dormant for a long time. Almost no components available so you have to make brass. I looked into 45 Raptor a while back but like to stick to mainstream stuff for the most part.

8.6 Blackout accuracy and barrel twist

How many guns and ammo variants are available for that? Could have just done a 375 Whisper

8.6 Blackout accuracy and barrel twist

It still cracks me up when people talk about the 300 Blackout like it was a bad idea or failure. It's a lot like the people that call the Creedmoor manbun or similar. Really just shows ignorance about what is involved in rolling out a successful cartridge. 300 Whisper could have been the pick...

8.6 Blackout accuracy and barrel twist

Energy doesn't really answer everything either. For the bullets that really open up big it's not hard for me to believe that the extra rotational speed could do quite a bit of damage. Like a little blender.

    AR-30 Stock adapter

I almost bought an AR31 a couple times but never did. The combo of the stock and 308 only was too much. Gun always seemed decent but needed to be modernized a bit.

Zeroing with a 44.4 moa scope base

If you have to shoot up close you could make your own target with offset aiming points for whatever you need. Confirming as far out as possible seems best if you are trying to shoot really far away.

Whats the most powerful round I can put in an AR-10 build?

So no. That's pretty cool I was just confused because we were talking about AR10's.

8.6 Blackout accuracy and barrel twist

This is an older Smarter Every Day video where he captures a bunch of high speed footage looking for shockwaves. One of the subsonic shots clearly shows the bullet nose up plowing through the air. Pretty cool stuff. He's done a bunch of gun vids. Same guy

Whats the most powerful round I can put in an AR-10 build?

Have you seen an AR10 510 Whisper? Mag bolt face long action bolt guns are all I've seen.

Subsonic shooting, noise vs barrel length

If you burn all that powder in 16" of barrel and then it has 8-10 inches of barrel to dissipate heat and pressure it's going to be quieter. I have no idea if anyone has ever tried to measure actual sound levels. It's hard because of how much variety there is in 300 Blackout loads. If you were...

8.6 BLK, The Caliber For Advanced Years.

Cycling live rounds can be an issue with various rounds and platforms nothing new there. Comparing Hornady ammo to a custom low volume brand new cartridge with an expensive botique copper bullet seems silly to me. Kevin had mentioned that Hornady has a bullet for these so I'm sure we'll see some...

    Dedicated subsonic bolt gun

It's been done but it's not common. A lot of them are pretty spendy.

    Dedicated subsonic bolt gun

Seems like a pretty good option if he already has the 45 rifle rated can. Hornady Sub X ammo available and not expensive.

Are the FN SPR enthusiasts extinct?

Does the action have to be machined to work in the chassis? I remember with my CDI there was a simple cut or relief that had to be made.

    SBR caliber

There's no length restrictions and you don't have to keep the original stuff on hand. The wording is something along the lines of being able to switch it back which on an AR is easy. Most of this stuff was written long ago before it was common to swap stuff around.
