    Re: To all u deer huners out there He is 5. The neck is smaller than normal from the drought, plus with the velvet, he has not stated sparring and swelling up those neck muscles yet. Tines are short, spread is wide, probably in the 150's.

    Re: Cold bore shots? I go hunting with a dirty/cold bore, never a clean/cold bore. Make note of your dirty/cold bore shots. Make that adjustment on your scope when you go hunting.

    Re: First rifle for kids.... We live on some land and my son still totes his bb gun all over the place on his 4 wheeler. Under supervision he has moved to the 22lr, then to the AR. When I finish my 6.5 he wants to move up to that. He will be 10 next month.

    Re: what weight bullet for 30.06? TX WT will be obliterated with 180 grainers. When I used heavy bullets for hunting, the deer always ran. In wooded areas - I use 110 gr soft points over 55 gr RL15, and it drops them where they are. I am looking at getting another lease in the Hill Country...

    Re: 20 MOA base or not? Before you decide, try both. Mount the base, mount your scope, tighten everything up, and go to the range. I look at it a little diferently. A 20 MOA base may hurt if you do not have an adjustable cheek piece. That is why you see people with stock packs built up...

    Re: 7.62X54R Reloading? I started reloading to save money too. That has to be one the biggest oxy-morons. (sp?) All I do now is shoot so much that I spend a hell of alot more in components than I ever did in factory ammo. That being said, It is a hell of alot more fun, and I love it.
