GEISSELE MRGG 6.5 CREED WRITE UP AND REVIEW

Agree. Why would there be that big of POI shift if the barrel is “free floated”? Like you pointed out, it must be tension on the barrel nut. This puts the Seekins and LMT 20-22” guns at a distinct theoretical advantage. On another note, it makes absolutely zero sense to me for SOCOM to pick a...

Rifle Scopes Talk me in (or out) of a new S&B 6-36

Kahles patent issues. Everyone is POed about it.

Rifle Scopes Talk me in (or out) of a new S&B 6-36

I have a S&B 6-36 (P5 reticle) I snagged over a year and a half ago, for far less than what EuroOptics is charging now. It is a phenomenal scope. I really like it. I have not stretched it to the distances you intend to shoot though, so I can't comment on FOV. The eyebox is huge, and the...

    Nightforce | Shot Show 2025

Given S&B’s insane pricing (even before the tariffs) and the tariffs on imported goods, I would love to see an updated ATACR line or improved NX8 line. A compact 1-6x NX6 carbine optic with a second focal plane red dot would be wonderful. I would also like to see a Euro style adjustable diopter.

Zero Compromise ZCO 4-20x scope for a 18” SPR 5.56….

Where? Everything went up by $1k. Also, how is the eye box compared to the 3-20? The form factor of the 5-20 does make more sense, but its size poses technical limitations, much like the Kahles 3-18, which is also an "ultra short".

Zero Compromise ZCO 4-20x scope for a 18” SPR 5.56….

Thanks for the reply. If I wear my larger Peltors prone, 1.5 becomes an issue for me. With Sordins, I can squeeze in but 1.7” is more comfortable. and I forgot to add another thing: I plan on putting the Kahles on another rifle. Another motivation for the switch.

    LMT wins MRGG-A

I think that was legitimately one of the few times big Army did the right thing with a purchase/procurement decision the past ten years. I wish I had access to a longer range to justify buying a Barrett Mk 22 (MRAD), but it is a hell of a rifle when shooting larger caliber rounds.

Zero Compromise ZCO 4-20x scope for a 18” SPR 5.56….

I have a good old 18” 5.56 SPR (Noveske barrel). Currently, I have a Kahles 3-18x50 sitting on top. The scope is great from 3-15x, but the eyebox narrows down significantly between 16-18x. I like to shoot with higher magnification for tight groups 100-300 yards. This is not for hitting man...

    LMT wins MRGG-A

And actually, I forgot to add to your point DeathBeforeDismount, what is the purpose then of the 14.5” MRGG-A in 6.5 Creedmoor? To defeat body armor better at short ranges? What theater, besides Afghanistan, will SOCOM be using this rifle and feel the need to lug a shortened battle rifle for CQB...

    LMT wins MRGG-A

I believe Delta gets a wider range of choices than other SOF units (like Green Berets). They (Green Berets etc) have an “armory” but still are limited in their choices. You hit the nail on the head though when you mentioned logistics. It makes more sense to go with one manufacturer for both...

    LMT wins MRGG-A

Forgot to add, D Wilson is offering this, which is probably as good or better than the MRGG-A LMT will sell us: https://www.dwilsonmfg.com/DWM-Custom-Shop-LMT-65-Creedmoor-Rifle_p_430.html I love my 16" DD5V3. I have no need to upgrade to 6.5 Creedmoor, when the longest rifle range I have...

    LMT wins MRGG-A

Agree, but it is easier to swap barrels for the armorer, with the LMT. Changing calibers to 308 is also easier. No need to pull off the handguard when swapping barrels. Most US Army Armorers are not like the tool ninjas here on Sniper's Hide, lol. Regardless, it is probably price more than...

    LMT wins MRGG-A

Would be nice to know why they chose LMT over Geissele. If I had to guess, perhaps price? Maybe they wanted the quick change barrel capability of the LMT MRP, since in theory, the shorter 14.5” barrel versions should experience a higher round count than the MRGG-S?

Geissele Mid Range Gas Gun for the low price of $6,500

Agree. I guess they have to price it that way if that is what they charged the Feds. That is AI AT-whatever pricing. In all seriousness, I want a 6.5 Creedmoor, and it will come down to this vs a new AI. .308 serves me quite well for the ranges I get to shoot at for the time being. Hence, I want...

    2025 SHOT Show Optics

X-ring liked it. Very cool. As an aside, I wonder what the real differences are between the 3-20x50 ultrashort and the 3-18x42 meta other than tube diameter and length (~13 vs 15.5”)? Weight wise they seem fairly close to one another. Any pics of the FFP meta 3-18? How does it perform compared...

    Nightforce | Shot Show 2025

An NX6 line would sell well. For my purposes, I would love to see a compact (< 9-10 in) NX6 1-6x, 30-34 mm main tube, large eyebox, red dot in the second focal plane like the S&B. It would be the ultimate semi auto rifle scope (11.5-16” AR variants).

    Nightforce | Shot Show 2025

How Nightforce can improve the NX8 1-8 and ATACR 1-8: - European style diopter adjustment, and design it so it doesn’t interfere with a scope cap - Better FOV - Larger eye box, exit pupil 1-8x - Develop a dual focal plane option on the ATACR 1-8x with a true red dot at 1x (think S&B short...

Rifle Scopes New Schmidt & Bender PM2 6-36x56

I do not have any experience behind the ZCO. I have looked behind a Tangent Theta 5-25 but not the newer 7-35x. Compared to the S&B 5-25, Leupold Mark 5 (5-25 or 7-35), Kahles (6-24, 5-25), any Nightforce ATACR, any Vortex I have looked through, the S&B 6-36 blows them all out of the water. I...

Rifle Scopes New Schmidt & Bender PM2 6-36x56

I finally got to shoot my 6-36 S&B on my .308 bolt gun. Very crystal clear glass. Huge eyebox. I can actually get behind the scope on 30-36x without any trouble. The P5FL reticle is great for the type of shooting I do. I love the center dot. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. I wish...
