    Hello! New to the forums. Finally 'pulling the trigger' on my AR setup.

    With scope choice, I'd stick to 18" for the long gun unless you already have the barrel. A 308 is a heavy gun for a patrol rifle. I'd only do this if your covered with 5.56 for that purpose. Plates are stopping either unless you have the right ammo. Not typically available on the market.

    They are tools. Best functioning would be best use. If two of my stock guns shot better on the other's traded lowers, I'd use it to my advantage.

    I have personally built a few 5.56 rifles now, and shot dozens of others. Many off of a bench. I have never found 55 grain fmj to suffer from a 1:7 twist barrel. I have no interest in bullets below 55 grains for an AR. Heavies are my favorites, but I like them all to be able to pick up big...
