Side play in sight picture using 1907 sling on R700

Thanks everyone here. Great videos, pmclaine. Between the pointers of this thread and watching a great video of Ken Roxburgh teaching prone service rifle position, I've adjusted my sling by several holes (it was far too tight) as well as how I place the piece in my shoulder (heel of the palm)...

I'm not denying that. I'm just being honest about my own unfounded prejudices.

James Yeager on Mosin Nagant PU (Language Warning!)

It boggles my mind that people give money to be trained by this narcissistic poser who has proven he can't "tactically respond".

Steyr SSG 69... Provenance? Information? Advice?

Thank you alpine!!!! The owner is not fond of using the magazine exactly because of the expense. I had read that the barrel was special bonded to the receiver (much like the rear sight ring to the barrel on an M1903). Federal Gold Medal Match a good choice to feed it? He babies it but he...

Steyr SSG 69... Provenance? Information? Advice?

Hi everyone. This thread is for a friend. His grandfather was an antiques collector with an specialization in firearms. One of the gems that was passed down to him was a Steyr SSG 69, his favorite of his grandfather's rifles by far. He's asked me for help finding information and potentially...

Uh... there are plenty of people who heartily and steadfastly prefer it over a bipod. For a lot of reasons.

Gunsmithing Making a factory R700 bolt lift like cutting warm butter?

Thank you, sir. That is almost to the letter how I slicked up my M1903 cocking action/lift. I figured it would be something similar.

Gunsmithing Making a factory R700 bolt lift like cutting warm butter?

Hey good folks, is there an accepted best practice for lightening and smoothing the cocking bolt lift on an R700 action? Right now the bolt lift on my M1903 is smoother and lighter (albeit not without a lot of polishing and grease on the bearing surfaces). Right now the R700 takes just enough...
