    I assume you had the firing pin in the bolt when you cycled it and it was cocked when closed. Repeat the test with the firing pin removed. I'm interested to see the results. Also you could cut the case in half and put a spring in it (making it longer) to provide some "bolt thrust."

    Trigger replacement options

    How low are you going to go? 3.5# and above it's possible to make a Rem feel as good as the others. Below that you're pushing it. When you get close to a pound the jewel runs away from the pack. I stay above 3 and shoot my Remingtons as well as my Timneys or Jewell.
