Re: More TAD gear ?s I own a couple of Force 10's. Great pants from the machine shop to the shooting range, to even the streets.

Rifle Scopes Are sun shades needed?

As the title says, are sun shades on scopes needed? I've tried with the sun shade on and off and it doesn't make much of a difference, though I shoot at a roofed range a lot. More or less, it just seems to make your scope about 3 inches longer.

Rifle Scopes LR Scope for .300 win mag under $200?

Re: LR Scope for .300 win mag under $200? First, this should go in the Riflescope section and there's not much good for under $200. I'm unsure of durability, but the BSA Tactical Mil/Mil scope is $250 and the SWFA fixed power 6x, 10x, 12x, 16x and 20x are $300 each and recommended over the BSA.

    Thoughts on Surefire Ear Pro?

Re: Thoughts on Surefire Ear Pro? Most electronic ear pro that utilize buttons have an auto-shutoff after about two hours.

    Impressed with Eley Sport

Re: Impressed with Eley Sport I still have 400 rounds of that Eley Sport stuff and ~270 rounds CCI SV and 300 rounds CCI Mini-Mag. It's just that it surprised me that the Eley Sport was shooting better than CCI SV's, though it could have been me, since people vary from day to day on shooting...

    Thoughts on Surefire Ear Pro?

Re: Thoughts on Surefire Ear Pro? I agree with doubling up with muffs when there are breaks. When I went out to the range with the EP4's someone had a 338LM with a muzzle break and I was glad I doubled up, otherwise it wouldn't have been very pleasant.

    Thoughts on Surefire Ear Pro?

I just got a pair of the EP4's in and I can say that they don't attenuate as much sound as my Howard Leight Airsoft plugs, but they can fit under my muffs a lot better. I wouldn't want to shoot much more than a 308 with just these. Also the Hock's Noise Breaker seems gimicky. I haven't tried...

    Impressed with Eley Sport

Re: Impressed with Eley Sport The 22 I have is a Savage Mk II F with a Boyds Tacticool stock and BSA tactical FFP scope. Makes for a good budget trainer.

    Impressed with Eley Sport

I just got back from the range and am really glad I gave Eley Sport another chance. The first box of 50 I fired was about 60/40 super sonic and subsonic and I just didn't shoot it because that box was so inconsistent. Today, I took another box of 50 just to see if it was just one bad box. I'm...

    Not Happy with Savage CS

Re: Not Happy with Savage CS I worded that badly. The bosses, which are those stand offs that hold the 12-32 screws, screw into the action itself and those threads on the action are 1/4-28. 1/4-28 screws are much more common.

    Not Happy with Savage CS

Re: Not Happy with Savage CS I'm guessing you guys know this, but the bosses which hold the 12-32 are 1/4-28 screws, which McMaster sells plenty of. You can remove the bosses and drill out the holes in the stock and bottom metal to fit the larger screws.

Pants: Crye vs Vertx x TAD vs ?

Re: Pants: Crye vs Vertx x TAD vs ? I own two pairs of Force 10s, but not Vertx or the Cryes. The F10's are really comfortable and they don't stand out a lot. I haven't hard used them, but I've owned a pair for a little over a year and used them a lot and apart from the color fade, they...

Scope for my FV-SR to get out too 300-400 yards?

Re: Scope for my FV-SR to get out too 300-400 yards? For a 22lr (CCI Std. at 950fps) you need about 17 mils with standard velocity ammo at 300 yards according to Strelok. 400 is about 26 mils. Chances are you'll need to do hold overs. My BSA tactical with a 50 yard zero has 20.4 mils of...

Where to source Savage Mk II 5 round mags?

I've been looking around on google and the only place that sells Mark II 5 round mags is cheaper than dirt and they have ridiculous shipping costs. I.e., For just two 5 round mags, they are charging $12 for ground shipping. Where do you guys get your mags? Also is it worth the time sorting...

    Flashlight for home and carry

Re: Flashlight for home and carry I used to use a Fenix L1D until it wore a hole in my pants and fell out somewhere. Now, I've used a Nitecore D11 for about two years and used it pretty hard without problems. I WAS going to get an Elzetta ZFL M60 but spent the funds on TAD Gear's new steam...

    American Defence and Brobo related?

Re: American Defence and Brobo related? They do look similar, but my guess is that they coincidentally chose the same web host, though I could be wrong. The thing is, is why would one company manufacture different mounting options and sell them under two different brands at similar prices?

    Tossing around an idea.

I'm guessing that this has been brought up before, but what are you're guy's thoughts on a 5.7x28 bolt gun as an intermediate between the 22 rimfires and 223? I don't really know much in terms of ballistics, but (I'm assuming) you'd get more range than 22 mag/17hmr and the possibility of...

    a quick watch question

Re: a quick watch question I don't know about Broadarrow and Countycomm. I was thinking about getting a GSAR from my current TSAR and Countycomm doesn't carry the GSAR, CSAR, and TSAR any more. A quick look through Broadarrow and it looks like they only have the JSAR's in stock. Is...
