Extreme vertical spread at 100 yrds?

Re: Extreme vertical spread at 100 yrds? I can make a .75"-1" group at 50 yards if I do my part. I'm fairly new to shooting. Only been really shooting for about 8 months. Support is a bipod and rear bag sitting most of the time. (range rules require sitting at the benches) I keep the...

Extreme vertical spread at 100 yrds?

Re: Extreme vertical spread at 100 yrds? Never thought of how tight I'd hold the rifle. Do you guys mean by gripping the pistol grip, or pulling rifle in towards body/body weight pushing the rifle forward?

Extreme vertical spread at 100 yrds?

I'm not sure why, but when shooting at 100 yards, I have a vertical spread of at least 4 inches from point of aim after a 5 shot group. Horizontal spread tends to be about an inch max. Is this normal with CCI standards and a Savage Mark II and a so-so scope?

Thicker bottom metal for Savage Mk II?

Re: Thicker bottom metal for Savage Mk II? The only bottom metal for the Savage Mk II that I know of is the DIP bottom metal. I have it and works very well. http://www.diproductsinc.com/Products.aspx?CAT=3602

    savage MKII barrel

Re: savage MKII barrel I don't think you can easily remove the barrel on the Mk II. IIRC, it's pinned and press fit in, so it'll be a pain to remove. About the bolt knob. What they do is chop the knob itself off and use a die to thread a portion of the handle and thread on the new knob.

    Leatherman MUT question

I have a question for Leatherman MUT owners. Can you remove the knife and saw blade on it? I carry a Leatherman Wave to school every day and am always worried about a teacher freaking out because he/she sees a "deadly weapon". If I can remove the blades, I can just machine a simple ring out...

Thoughts on Arc'Teryx and Triple Aught Design

Re: Thoughts on Arc'Teryx and Triple Aught Design Thanks for the info guys. I just found out that the new Stealth Hoodie has a waterproof zipper along with seam tape. Only thing is that it bumped the price up to $475! Quoted from their Facebook page: "As you noticed in last week's...

Rifle Scopes closest BSA mil mil scope to a u.s..optics?

Re: closest BSA mil mil scope to a u.s..optics? Tracking and reticle seems accurate. Durability seems to be "meh". I was putting my 22 back in the gun cabinet and it slid a distance of about 5 inches and the scope hit against the inner wall and dented the objective bell rim despite having...

Savage 93R17 bedding in Boyds TR stock

Re: Savage 93R17 bedding in Boyds TR stock Nice find. Jerz, do you remember how long the front pillar was? I'm planning on pillar bedding my stock as well using my friend's bedding compound, which is I guess ITW Devcon Titanium Putty, since it's the only compound that has titanium...

    Concern for lead exposure

Re: Concern for lead exposure So, just don't take a bide out of the round and I'll be fine. Also, I'm really envious of your persistant. Despite our town being about 60% red necks, we don't have a rifle team. I guess the liberal principle is too worried about something bad happening with...

    Concern for lead exposure

While I'm probably overly concerned about this, am I at risk to ingesting lead by handling 22lr rounds and not washing my hands? Being 17, I don't want to get brain damage.

    Torque Wrenches

Re: Torque Wrenches I've been using a Borka MG6 kit and loving it. Haven't found a rifle this can't be used on. It's also very small and the whole kit is fairly light weight. I always bring it with me whenever I go to the range just in case. Even used it recently on a friend's Russian...
