Help me spend my money wisely

Here is a link, I doubt this batch is still for sale though: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/options-accessories-sale/180961-rock-creek-savage-prefits.html Looks like ~$450 all up. Frankly, I highly, highly doubt you'll be anything other than tickled with a CBI. However, the Rock Creek is...

    Starter Rifle

Please consider a Howa 1500, either in 223 or 308. The Howa is a MUCH finer rifle than a Remington or Savage, and has many nice features most people spend a bunch of money upgrading their Remington to. Plus they're cheaper than either Remington or Savage. Only bummer is the 223 has a 1:12...

    260 Imp 30 velocity gains?

300wm is still legitimate today in 2013, and will be into the future for: 1. Chuck Norris 2. Dudes with tiny weiners trying to compensate ...don't remember you rocking a beard, Bob... :) Which are you?

    6.5mm RSAUM

Nope, the fatter case and extra 15gr of powder is there only to decrease magazine capacity and burn out throats quicker.

Help me spend my money wisely

Rock Creek (goes by cut-rifled here on the hide) probably makes the absolute highest quality savage profits available, but I think they're just a shade more than your budget. I read about great Shilens and others, but I've only personal experience with CBI. All 3 have been GREAT. That said...

    260 Imp 30 velocity gains?

Bob, SAC chambered my new match rifle in 6 Super. 6.5mm's are SOOO 2011. By the way, Mark has 6mm and 6.5mm SLR reamers. Plus if you like, you can borrow my personal 6/6.5 SLR reamer.

    260 Imp 30 velocity gains?

260-30° has more case capacity than 6.5creed. I say DFB (don't fucking bother) chasing the incremental increase in capacity UNLESS you can mag-feed the cartridge with bullet seated at or above the NSJ. If not, it's hardly an increase in capacity at all. Considering that 6.5-284 achieves...

    260 Imp 30 velocity gains?

Why would brass life be less for the 260-30° as compared to standard 260?

    Dillon Super Swage 600...opinions?

Processing crimped primer pockets sucks using any of the "hobbyist" methods. Swaging in the press on a Dillon 1050 sucks the least, but still has its issues. After that, the SS600 is as good as it gets, but make no mistake, it sucks to do a bunch.

I cant get a responce from Alpha Mags

I got the run around for months and months from him regarding my Type 4s. After 4 or 5 "reworks at the coating shop" and a lot of emails and phone calls, they arrived. I don't think he's out to screw anybody, but magazines has not been his primary focus for at least 2 years.

    Questions about meloniting

I wasn't aware Mgordon had an ongoing "melonite test", but I look forward to the results of it. Recently I got to bore scope my nitrided 6xc barrel that has ~550 through it. They have been mostly full-power loads. Anyway, it wasn't throat-fucked, but it sure as shit didn't look great. It has...

SAC: Bartlein 30,000 barrel anniversary rifle build!

Super cool. Congrats to Bartlein for their 30,000th barrel, and congrats to SAC for a kickass job of commemorating it.

As 2014 Approaches does this need to be addressed ?

Only seems fair that 1st place pro and 1st place novice would come to the table together. Then 2nd novice/2nd pro...

As 2014 Approaches does this need to be addressed ?

Good point. How would you propose to address the novice class? Same entry fee, because it still cost the range the same, and they come to the prize table (if there is one....) when?

As 2014 Approaches does this need to be addressed ?

GD.Stone I'd hope entry fee for novice class would be less if rewards were less, only makes sense. lash A newb with a 260 should be shooting "against" other newbs. Isn't the objective here to make it more reasonable for newbs to compete? I doubt the top PRS shooters would be sweating being...

As 2014 Approaches does this need to be addressed ?

This is the most logical, elegant and productive thing I've read in this thread. An honor system based novice/expert division, where top performing novices get bumped if they don't self-enter into expert. Like NRA hi power, "experts" have to do a lot of sucking for a while to get put back in...
