    Lefaucheux pin fire gets my vote being it is the first self contained metallic cartridge. It completely changed warfare and firearms in a matter of a few decades. Even though it was a short lived design, without it, firearms would not be what they are today.

    Custom M1As: SAI donor action or virgin action (LRB, Fulton Armory, etc.)

    I have heard of people building off of Polytech receivers arguing the their milled receivers are better than cast ones. I haven't been interested in researching past that. I have a standard SAI that is bedded and it will shoot 1.5 moa all day. For what I need it for that is more than adequate.

    Try a russian manufactured Kobra red dot. They are rugged and will mount right onto the AK side rail

    I definitely don't want anything with magnification. I have enough other ARs set up with scopes. I guess the other one I had been thinking about was the comp m4. Is there any advantage with that over the T-1?

    I bedded my springfield armory standard and I get between 1"-1.5" groups. I would say yours would probably do about the same. Im no expert but from what I observe it seems you have to drop some serious $$ to get the m1a platform to shoot sub moa groups.
