    Desert Tech TRASOL Official Thread

While I like the app, the lack of support is concerning. A public statement stating their status and intentions would go a long way towards instilling consumer confidence.

    Scale calibration weights

You probably have bullets that weigh 55.0gr, that make a perfect checkweight. I would never trust calibrating 20x heavier than actual use; I've seen just enough issues over the years. Also be aware that every time you calibrate anything, some degree of error is involved. Hence a checkweight for...

Gunsmithing Remage bbl 6.5 CM closes on both go and no go. Professional advice?

Measure a sized brass with your HS comparator. Partially insert a primer, chamber it, and slowly close the bolt to finish seating the primer. Remove and measure again, the difference vs the original length is the HS. I've shot up to .010in with no problems, but the safety margin is up to you...

    Compression Socks

If you experience circulation loss, then its way too tight. I've been surprised how little is required for pain relief, not talking exercise support for which you need more.

Cannot get Kestrel w/ AB to True to Actual Dope

Dismissing the 1200 due to your uncertainty. When you trued at 1000, ALL the other distances are off .75 to 1.0 mil. This suggests the 1000yd may be off. Try adjusting mv to get the other yds correct.

    Compression Socks

Mild compression typically offers less pain on all parts of the anatomy that I've tried. Even sleep using it on wrists and elbows at times to wake up with noticeable relief.

F T/R Competition Getting more into F CLASS

Most Fclass bipods attach to an Anschutz style rail. If not equipped with one you can buy a rail section from Champion Shooting Supply and simply screw it onto the forend. I used a Manners T4A for a while and liked it until relegating back to tac rifle. I use a custom stock now. The main point...

Rifle Scopes Return to zero failures

Class = New Scope = Need to twist turrets fully several times to "wear" in the splines. My friend who runs a range reports this is not an uncommon occurance even with improved machining capabilities.

F T/R Competition Getting more into F CLASS

Hope you are enjoying! The requirement to shoot tighter standards of accuracy should translate to PRS as well. Suggest a proper bipod and rigid bunny ear rear bag would improve your scores significantly with just a little familiarization. A while ago Sinclair had a $100 bipod sale, as an...

    .223 trainer build - Am i nuts?

My trainer started as a $435 Savage Hog Hunter. New stock, Brux barrel, etc and five years later.... it's a bona fide 1000yd shooter if I can hold the wind ( the trainer part ). Shot Ftr with it for a while too. All you need is one of these and a $200 stock ( Choate, BC, etc) and you will be...

Length to Ogive - What's consistent enough"?

Another potential problem. If you notice seating force ("feel") varies, you may measure differences in seating depth as well. That means it's time to start annealing.

260 Remington in an AI AT at 1 mile...possible?

I have not tried the Berger. Started with 123 Scenar, very accurate but the bc is getting smacked by the newer models. Using published bc for 140 eldm and rdf have worked well, with only minor adjustments to velocity in the ballistic calcs. For me the rdf seems to behave more consistently in the...

260 Remington in an AI AT at 1 mile...possible?

I shot my 6.5x47 on a mile target with the 140eldm, and it handled the transonic transition well. Since that time I have transitioned to the 140rdf which shoots a little more consistently for me, and has a bit higher bc as well. With the higher powder capacity of the 260 you should be able to...

    Gunsmithing Intricacies of muzzle brakes

At the muzzle 1oz difference can have a tremendous effect on barrel harmonics. Tuners weigh only a few ounces, yet turning them in or out by less than a rotation yields several nodes. Checkout ad nausea in depth analysis at varmintal website.

Rifle Scopes Help new shooter pick a scope

As an option to get thru class where you can checkout other scopes, consider a swafa 12x. Usually less than $300 from their sample list, and you can sell it close if not the same as you pay for it. Solid, accurate, decent glass; never heard of an unsatisfied user.

Rifle Scopes Vortex AMG and Athlon Cronus BTR Reticle Pics and Impressions

Reticle on my new Cronos does not look like that, it has hash marks at 0.2 mil intervals.

    Chargemaster Settings

Tweak the settings to increase the times so it will slow down sooner. Or if the overthrow is due to a "clump" falling as the final trickle, then you need a different insert.

    Tikka repair with Beretta?

Is your gunsmith a machinist? Find a small machine shop and they should be able to come up with a fix. I would think inserts could be used to replace the towel to hold the riser as a short term option.

Rifle Scopes Help new shooter pick a scope

The optical quality of the SIII cannot be touched for the money. Turrets and reticle are adequate and function accurately. Choice depends on what you value more. I recently checked out the Athlon Helios which looked like a nice value too.

Calculating Yaw of Repose & Spin Drift - A Novel Approach

Calculated 7 to 10 inch drift at 1000yd is not insignificant to ignore when shooting 1 to 2 moa targets. Its interesting current advancements continue when many advise to simply ignore sd at 1000yd.
