    I have never had problems with small primers and temperature. I don't know the spec for protrusion on a DPMS style but the general rule is 1/2 the diameter of the firing pin so a .080 DPMS firing pin would have around .040 protrusion. I don't think that's your issue either. It could be...

    Well I'm certain you've already ruled this out but are you sure the defects are in the PVS30 instead of dust/dirt from the foam shroud landing on the NF objective? I would agree with you that although the Scar is considered tough on optics, the PVS30 should be able to handle it fine.

    Poly beads from a craft store are waterproof and light, work well. People use all kinds of stuff from rice to beans to corn to kitty litter and much more. Sand works fine but is heavy depending on how you are using the bag, also it will leak out dust from the fabric over time without a liner.

    You need a canted base, very common by the way. To gain back your 15 mils you need approx. 50 MOA so a 45 MOA base is probably your best bet.

    Just use a plumb line and get into your natural/comfortable position behind the rifle and level the reticle to the line. That's what you'll do in the field anyway unless you have a level mounted to the rifle.
