    oh the original pads are toast lol. That pic was my other Tikka that has been upgraded by a smith. That barrel was a breeze to get off, the factory one...that's another story however. Still can't get it to budge and think I ruined it to be honest.

    Can anyone provide insight into prefit shouldered barrels working off the shelf? Or would the savage style be a better route? I’ve seen a few of both on the interwebs. I pulled my 6.5cm looking at doing a 6.5 prc (have a magnum bolt).

    I don't know a ton actually about barrel manufacturers. I've heard that Bartlein are very good. I'm currently having PVA make one from Rock Creek. There's a lot of variables too depending on the purpose of the rifle (hunting, PRS etc.) weight concerns etc etc.

    Anyone have insight swapping a 300wm bolt into a “sa” to build a 6.5prc? I know the bolt head is right, and fits fine in the other action , just wondering if I’m missing anything other than checking headspace.
