    Yes the steel is best and the chamber (breech) is what I was referring to. If you ever do a Christensen Arms prefit, they only have about 3/8 of an inch so you have no choice as to clamp on carbon fiber with a little bit of steel. That`s why I said you can wipe any residue off.

    I use a Brownell`s vise and use the appropriate bushings for whichever size Proof barrel you get. I clamp as close to the breech side as I can without hindering the recoil lug holder or action wrench if I can`t use one that goes in the bolt raceway. I have never had a problem with Proof...
