    6x47 or 6.5x47

    i've got both. Although my 6x47 is set for the lighter bullets - 70 to 90 gr. Both are very accurate. The 6x47 is my P-dog gun, flat shooting out to 400yds with the 70 Blitz and my 6.5L is good out to 1200 or so using 123 Lapuas. The 2 compliment each other perfectly.

    I used to use STP oil treatment when I reloaded large amounts of 5.56 brass. One can lasted me forever. Not even sure if they still make it.

    Range Report Shilen match grade blanks

    A while back I decided to build an inexpensive .284. Had a long action Savage, got a $200 Choate tactical and a Select match Shilen. Well this tuned out to be a highly accurate long distance gun. Consistent hits out to 1650 yds. Highly recommend the select match barrel.

    I paint my scopes with Cerakote, the air dry version. This stuff is so durable I even paint my rifles with it for the ease of application.

    Call up some of the gunsmiths on this site like GAP, etc and see if they have some take off barrels to sell and play around with those. What I also did was buy a cheap barrel blank from Midway and practiced chambering etc on that. A long one can be chambered 3 or 4 times before its too short...

    Re: Butler Creek Flip-ups flimsy and breaking I gave up on the BC caps a few years ago. Always breaking and would not stay closed. What's weird is that I got a new S&B a few months ago with BC caps on it and the're perfect. Go figure.
