Has anyone had any luck with this Berger bullet in the 284 Winchester caliber? I have tried it with R17 and 4831SC. Get great speed and lousy accuracy with R17 and good accuracy with 4831sc but can't get above 2800fps. Right now I'm running 52.5 R17 with 162 A-max, under 1/2 MOA and 2940 fps...
Re: Iphone GPS for Distances
i use an app called "Distance Map". Gives line of sight measurements in yards, meters, whatever. You do need a signal ie; bars, for it to operate as it uses google earth. Very accurate.
Re: Blank check build - most accurate 1000yd rifle.
A second vote for 284 winchester. I also have a 7wsm but its much more pleasant to shoot the 284. A 6.5x47 is even easier to shoot but the 284 is ballistically better.
Re: Where do you set your zero and why?
200yds as I feel its more accurate if I have to tweak it. As for 100yds I just come down about 1 plus 1. But then I rarely shoot at 100.
Re: Nightforce dilema for long range
For me the primary use of a mil or MOA reticle is for elevation adjustments and wind adjustments. Especially wind. I use a SFP Nightforce at max power almost all the time. Only time I would need FFP and adjusting power a lot is when I go prairie dog...
Re: Rem260 or 6.5CM
I just started using the Lapua brass and have 8 loads so far. No problem yet. I get 10-12 loads out of my Rem brass. Am running 139 Lapua's with 42gr of R17. I think I'm getting around 2850fps. I'm loath to neck turn but might try the Winchester brass and see what happens.
Re: pick a 6.5 right now
I gotta agree with Dar. I also have all three and I shoot the CM the least. 6.5x47 you get almost as much velocity as the others and its cheaper to run. Brass last 3 times longer than the other two, as least for me. I think it's inherently more accurate.
Re: Viper PST vs HS
How about the "coming soon" Viper HS LR with the XLR reticle. Shouldn't this be just as good as the PST? After all it priced just as high.
Re: bushings for removable pilot reamers
Thanks Chad. I value your opinion. In a month or 2, I hope to send you my Stiller 338 action and a Krieger barrel for chambering. I built one a while back and have never really been satisfied with my groups. Plus my reamer which I loaned out now has a...

Re: 3,000 and counting. 6.5x47
I'm shooting 123 Lapua's. I will try chasing the lands. I started out originally at 2.690 OAL. Now its 2.717. I really never considered setting back the barrel worth it. Since I do my own chambering, I'd rather just chamber up another barrel.
I just pasted the 3k round count on my 6.5x47 Lapua and have noticed that I'm not quite getting the accuracy I'm use to. It will still usually shoot around 1/2 MOA but have noticed that I not getting the usual sure shots farther down range. Am getting some unexplained misses at 3-600 yds. Its a...
Re: Glasses vs. contacts
I guess I'll be the dissenting opinion. After 30 years of wearing glasses I tried contacts for about a year. Total PIA. Went back to glasses. Yes it is a hassle keeping them in line but its better than messing with contacts. As for laser, at my age I'll need glasses...
Re: SWFA - hands down, WORST company I've dealt with
My dealer ordered a scope from Schmidt Bender. Well we got the wrong one our fault, so he reordered the correct one and send back the other. Complete refund within a week. Certain scope companies do it right.
Re: Can someone school me on USO spotters?
I had a USO spotter for a while. Yes compared to their scopes it wasn't that clear. Optically almost any other high quality spotter will outperform it. To adjust the focus you had to work the objective lens up front. It seemed too long for me. About...
