    Can you loosely poke a 1/4" wide xeroform into the pocket and change it with each dressing change? This will promote drainage and help avoid abscess formation.

    No idea about a dog, but in a human that would require debridement, skin grafting, and immobilization. Or allow to scar in while keeping covered until dry. Antibiotics as well.
