Who makes the best annealer...? Why?

There are only two machines that I know of that feed cases for themselves, the Giraud has a case feeder but you still have to stack them in the hopper by hand and it is slower (by half) than the two torch machines. The machine I built is collator fed, so you just come by every 10 minutes and...

About to buy a Dillon 1050

If you get a GSI bullet feeder for the 45 it includes a billet aluminum tool head that allows you to retain the powder check die and seat then crimp (no other option allows this). The last one I bought was $321-collator, I make my collators from 6" PVC and 1/2" plastic sheet. Said another way...

    Opinion on this annealer

Unlike a lot of videos, that machine is not over doing the job and looks to function well. There is no worry about a plastic tub. If your cases fall out hot enough to cause any damage they are toasted. You don't want the entire case at 750 just the neck and the transfer of heat is very fast...

New Way to Dry Brass after Wet Tumble!!!

In Texas, this time of year, a few thousand 45 cases set in the sun are not only dry in 2.5 beers, they are so hot you cannot hold a hand full of them.

    Thoughts on Quickload

If you get off of "the beaten path" it is nice to have. Or you can just ask someone that has it. If I had much need for it, I would buy it. I treat it like a boat; good to have a friend that has it but I don't really need it myself.

    Giraud annealing machine observations

The case head shouldn't be a source of much heat at all. Watch the video in #64 above. If it has to dwell in the flame long enough for the heat to migrate to the head of the case, that would be a bad design.

    Moving away from hand primers

Cars are bad too. I wouldn't trade in your car for a horse though, one of them paralyzed Superman back in '95. Two things you should never force, primers and sex, both will cause you more trouble than you want.

    Giraud annealing machine observations

You can also get the threaded ends for the torches off of used small throwaway propane tanks. I cut them off after they are empty and I shoot a hole in them and weld 1/8" NPT fittings to them. Then you can thread a regular fitting into them. At that point you can take the checkvalve out...

    setting up benchsource annealer

Turn your torches down a bit or move them back some. You don't want the flame to change from blue to orange. The orange flame is likely the Zinc leaving the alloy, it melts around 787F, likely the temp at the edge when your flame changes to orange. You want it to look like this video. The...

GSI International bullet feeder with Cast bullets

I use mine with cast bullets. I don't use wax lube any more though I use the HI-TEK coating that Donnie of Bayou bullets sells. I do use the same homemade collator on my bullet sizer that I use on the press though. This is a video With the GSI you can get away with almost no...

    Midway Back Order?

Midway once dragged me along with a back order for almost a year, then cancelled it. When I called to ask them why, they said they could reinstate the order. Only catch was the price changed to what I could have walked into a store and bought it the year before. After an unanswered letter to...
