Sidearms & Scatterguns Range Toy 1911. $1500 price tag. Suggestions?

I had one. The fit and finish was amazing, but it wouldn't feed for shit. After several trips back and forth, it finally functioned, but just looking at it pissed me off so I sold it.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Range Toy 1911. $1500 price tag. Suggestions?

We know DW and RRA make great pistols in this price range. Buy a Bul Armory 1911 and let us know if they’re all hype or not.

    Do I need a 300 Winchester Magnum

You cannot shoot 50 BMG out of a dshk. I don't care what your friend who says tampons are essential in an IFAK and claims to be a Green Beret told you.

    Fieldcraft Assault Pack

AWS (link) makes good packs. I have their assault back and might replace my Eagle Industries 3 day with one of theirs. I like the AWS assault pack more than the Eagle Industries because it has MOLLE on the sides instead of sewn on pockets. Its main compartment is big enough for a poncho w/...

    Fieldcraft Assault Pack

Attachment method is personal choice. I tried the direct attachment thing and it was a tremendous pain in the ass. I noticed that getting in and out of vehicles was a pain in the ass. I also wound up carrying more in my cargo pockets so I wasn't always asking someone to grab something out of my...

    effectiveness out of 10.5

Spoken like a true Pennsyltucky native. You managed to combine the rustic qualities of a Steelers fan with the animosity of an Eagles fan in one sentence.

Rifle Scopes Older scopes still relevant?

Old scopes that work are just scopes that work. If the glass, reticle, and mechanicals meet your requirements, drive on. Now is a Leupold VX-3 Tactical worth $700? If your being objective, no. There are a ton of new and used (but not 30 year old) scopes out there that will outperform a vintage...

    Robar SR-90

It's just like vintage cars. When people reach a point in their lives where they have disposable income, they tend to buy the things they couldn't afford but always wanted earlier in life. Baby boomer's buy muscle cars, Unertl scopes, 6-digit receivers, and CRF Model 70's. As Gen X is starting...

    Robar SR-90

I'm capable of hitting steel with a VX-3 4.5-14x50 or a Mark 5 3.6-18x50. But having a better reticle located in the first focal plane and better glass certainly makes it a lot easier. I know snagging a Mark 5 for $899 was a fluke so let's pretend I wasn't able to snag one at that price. Given...

    Robar SR-90

Thought y’all would enjoy this more than the regulars who read the Bolt Action Section. Snagged this from Mile High with the minimum starting bid. It didn’t come with any paperwork from Robar, but MHSA said they got it on a trade-in and the...

Looking for the "glock" of ARs.....

No doubt, but my personal experience (building and buying a complete rifle on a budget) has been that budget rifles have been reliable than budget builds. Like anything else, @cheesefries needs to do some homework and determine what he's comfortable buying. My recommendations are based on my...

Looking for the "glock" of ARs.....

Saving up for a high end rifle is always a good idea; however, I think having something right now is better than having nothing while you save up. Given a limited budget, I'd rather have an inexpensive rifle and a ton of cheap ammo.

Looking for the "glock" of ARs.....

Armalite LE Carbine and RRA LAR-15 Entry Tactical are about as unsexy and reliable as a Glock. My Anderson Manufacturing "Poverty Pony" was accurate enough out of the box and has never given me any problems. The only changes I made were a BCM PNT trigger and an enhanced extractor kit. And I...

Rifle Scopes Importance of buying latest gen/release scope

Why buy the latest version of a vehicle? Some people upgrade because it looks cool and other people upgrade because the improvements enhance their capabilities.

Rifle Scopes Am I crazy to get high rings so my scope will work with any rifle I get down the road

Method to my madness: build a riser out of whatever you can get your hands on, e.g. mouse pads, rubber floor mats, etc., tape it up, and stick it under your stock pack. You can take the stock pack off to clean and your cheek rest will be the same when you put it back on.

Rifle Scopes Am I crazy to get high rings so my scope will work with any rifle I get down the road

Get rings that will give you proper cheek weld. If you buy quality rings, you can always sell them and get most of your money back. Then you can buy an identical pair a year later for another rifle/scope you picked up. Or you can just throw them in a box and save them for the next project. But...

Possible to DIY build a precision bolt gun?

It's the same reasons people buy factory gas guns. I won't say all, but a lot of custom and factory rifles come with an accuracy guarantee and/or a warranty. Some people don't want to be their own customer support and repair shop.
