    Another Squirrel Rifle

Sighted this rifle yesterday. 50 yards 5 shots at 1/2” dot. It took a bit of tapping to get it centered of course. May not be perfect yet, had a bit of gusty wind. It’s close enough for 50 yard headshots on squirrels. We have a snow storm moving in so first outing will be a rabbit hunt later...

    22lr barrel

Undoubtedly true. You also likely don't know anyone else who has tested over 80 target rifles, (Remington 37, Remington 40 X, Winchester 52 and Anchutz of various models). Tested hundreds of lots of ammunition over 50 years then had custom reticules built off of drop and windage charts arrived...

    22lr barrel

Squirrel hunting can require as much accuracy than any rimfire match shooting. A squirrel's head at 200 yards is small target.

    M70 ish

You could also try adjusting the parallex. Call me and I will explain how if you want. I think you have my number.

    M70 ish

With that low comb stock, high scope and lack of an easy parallel adjustment system I am thinking your cheek weld is not allowing you get the accuracy it is capable of. Have you considered a lace on riser like the old M1 snipers used but mostly up rather than left? I might have one around. PM...

Wet Mounting Scope Mounts - Where It All Started

In WW1 the snipers would piss on the mount screws and put them back it to speed up the rusting process. Early advocates of the wet mount I suppose. 😂😂😃

Round count to determine the best lot# ?

I shoot 5 5 shot groups to determine if I like it. I never stop looking to see if it’s still up to standards.

    Appleseed Sucking

I’m certain there is some of that in this thread.

    Appleseed Sucking

My point was a red dot is not an accuracy aid. It’s a speed aid. You are correct, I have not a fucking clue about Appleseed. Nor do I care. I know enough to realize that if you cannot hit that target with iron sights nothing is going to help.

    Appleseed Sucking

Because red dot sights are known for benchrest accuracy?

Why would my groups open up suddenly?

The “old time” shooters who won consistently in the 50-70’s also cleaned consistently.

    Thermal Coyote hunting round

Not going to move out of way of course. If you like it great. After killing over 2500 Kansas coyotes it would not be my choice. I shoot further and also kill a lot of running coyotes. Both day and night. If I limited myself to standing coyotes at 100 yards I would have about 10% of this...

    Thermal Coyote hunting round

You MAY kill slightly quicker with the 6.5 than a .223 but you will hit far less than you would with the .204. Many coyote shots must be taken quickly or not at all. The trajectory is far less 'flat" and you will not have time to range and shoot.

    Thermal Coyote hunting round

I find a .204 very effective to 400 yards on coyotes. The only issue I have is if there is any intervening grass or brush. I like the explosive 32 grain bullets as they don't bounce around. I do think a small frame gun is the answer and a proof barrel is a good light weight solution. I am not a...

    ISO Best AR15 Barrel

20 practical or 20 Tactical are both good options . The .204 offers factory ammo and brass. If you go .204 you will want some USGI magazines. The plastic P mags are to short inside. Have fun!
