Chasing one of these for 35 years!

That is great luck. They seem to always go high! I have owned several of the guns in the book. At one time I had 25-30 of them.

I would add that most DT guns are non ejector and splinter forends as well. Very few exceptions.

Chasing one of these for 35 years!

The double triggers were only cataloged the first two or three years iirc. After that they were done only on special order. The DT GUNS I have seen were all under 4000 SN. 28 gauges came along later and doubt any had DT. The 28’s were very heavy due to being 20 ga barrels and frames with...

How typical. OP shows photos of a crappy chamber job and he gets quizzed about “how does it shoot?” No one answered his question. OP, that chamber looks like crap. I don’t care how it shoots it’s shoddy. One issue people tend to ignore is that even if poor workmanship shoots well it might...

    Toughest scope mounts?

Most mounts are tough enough. Any steel mount will be stronger than alloy mounts. Is it needed? Depends. The original M40 A1 mount is about as tough as any I’ve seen. Yet it’s heavy and limits what scopes can be used. Scope mounts have virtues beyond brute strength.

    Worth restoring?

G33/40’s were not produced in large numbers. What makes them very scarce is that the actions were coveted for building lightweight custom hunting rifles in the post war period. Another factor is that any idiot could identify them due to them being so conspicuously marked. Very scarce rifle.

What happened here? Case blew up, magazine disintegrated

I would check bore with a lead slug to see if there is a loose spot. Even a tight patch could find it.
