    Scratched chamber

Hello everyone. To start, I would like to thank everyone for helping out Mr. Fereydani as he deep dives into the realm of precision rifle. Now let's get down to business. I can assure you the chamber did not leave my shop with anything short of a pristine 400grit polish (some even argue TOO...

    Big scratch in barrel?

Obviously, shoot it and see what happens. Did you borescope when the barrel was new? Over the years I have seen a few barrels that SS media had been shot through them. I can't say I have seen one that followed a land......usually they tumble and gouge or get sideways and really dig in. Ern

Does low parallax affect image quality?

Nope, I am not changing the ocular once it is set. I am simply setting the parallax by making sure the reticle doesn't move on the target when I move my head around behind the scope and keeping the rifle perfectly still. I guess don't fix it if it is not broken. I am just wondering if I am...

Does low parallax affect image quality?

Probably off topic, but parallax related. I always hear people say......adjust it until the image is in focus. I may be an idiot but I adjust clarity with the eyepiece. I adjust parallax by setting the rifle up solid and somewhat on target.....then adjust the parralax knob while moving my head...

    Manners LRH Discussion

The stocks are very solid and a well thought out design, usual manners. The only issue in the LRH spacer cheek system I have seen has been on long actions. If you run a high scope setup you can't get the cheek high enough without the bolt hitting the front of the cheek when cycling. The short...

    Nashville school shooting

My money is on angry muslim female, but it can very easily be purple haired militant trans warrior. Without a doubt if it were a christian, conservative, heterosexual, biological,......female.......we would have known about it already. Ern

Heavy bolt lift with mild 6cm load

PLEASE DO NOT MODIFY YOUR CHAMBER IN ANY WAY!!! Although chamber dimension issues can happen.....this is not a first choice fix. In regards to "clickers" thats a discussion for another day. I have yet to get any Pro-Clicker groupie to explain why the 6.5prc has the same clearance (at .200) as...

Heavy bolt lift with mild 6cm load

I seriously doubt it is a tight neck issue. A .277" reamer neck diameter is MORE than enough clearance. This however implies there is not a wall of carbon stucco in the neck or throat area. Again, start with a clean dry rifle then look at your load data. Keep us posted. Ern

Heavy bolt lift with mild 6cm load

Correct. ANY tight neck barrels I've done, I make the customer supply the reamer. For 6creed I use a SAAMI spec reamer, which I believe is .277" neck diameter. After hearing more information. Please clean your rifle thoroughly and retry. Let us know what happens. I have the habit of...

Heavy bolt lift with mild 6cm load

On non-prefit barrels I chamber with headspace between .000-.001" on a ptg GO gage. What is your velocity? Also, you can run into pressure with a wet bore/chamber. Make sure the bore/chamber is clean and dry. I am betting you are running too stiff a powder charge for Lapua brass......you...

    carbon fiber barrels

I see your point, but I think people shop barrel contour mostly by what fits (or looks good) in their stock choice.......so I think CF vs Steel rigidity should be compared by contour not weight. I also understand there are some serious hunters as well as competitors who need to adhere to weight...

    GA precision

Thank you for the kind words. There are a ton of great builders out there......from OGs to Newbies. Pick one with a solid reputation, short leadtime, and decent price. There is no reason to wait crazy long leadtimes or pay through the nose to get a great rifle. Ern

    carbon fiber barrels

Although I cut a ton of CF barrels, I personally am not a fan. Chuck them up in your lathe and pull on the muzzle end of the barrel, then do the same contour steel barrel. You can also let it go and watch/feel how much longer the vibration goes on with the CF barrel. Also, lately I've had a few...

    PSA PA10 (308) Experiment

A ton of guys talk shit on PSAs large and small ARs......but I find them to be great for bullet hose ARs. I've yet to have one not be acceptable and have a few that suprised me how well they shoot. If I need to grab a superbly accurate rifle.......its never going to be a gasser anyway. Ern

    PSA PA10 (308) Experiment

I have a PSA10 in 6.5creed. It started at 20" rifle length gas system and I cut it down to 18" and put on a APA gen2 LB. It runs great and shoots any decent match ammo about 1moa. It should shoot better after it wears in and I load for it. Overall it is pretty impressive for the money. I will...

    Proof vs. Bartlein/Krieger

Good shooting and good reloading. I am not saying Proof's bore size variance shows up on target or chrono, just something I noticed over time. I appreciate Kreiger and Bartlein's consistency........I figure if they keep bore size consistent, then they can keep other barrel characteristics...

    Proof vs. Bartlein/Krieger

I am late to the party but would like to add my $.02 Of the three barrel manufacturers asked about. Only the one without major/minor bore dimensions stamped on the end requires me to break out the entire set of reamer pilots to check fit. Nuff said.
