7.5" barrel uppers were quite a thing 20 or so years ago.
Here are some chrono numbers from back then from a Noveske 7.5":
M193 2364 FPS
M855 2244 FPS
MK 262 2053 FPS
The MK 262 was easily capable of sub-MOA groups.
These are truly "bargain" Craddock Precision barrels - because they're made from "drops" - or what's left over from a full length blank cut by Craddock to 14.5" - 20". The first guy buying a barrel absorbed the majority of the cost.
They will shoot absolutely lights out - considerably sub-MOA -...
Thank you, sir!
Yes, 100% direct thread.
I'm currently running the CGS with the open end cap. No discernible back pressure but a little sharp in the sound department. The gun runs very clean.
With the closed end cap, it is much quieter, and the gas really isn't bad at all. But the powder/s...
This one is for me: 18" Proof CF barrel hosted by a Rogue Ops Builder's Kit. Young Mfg. N/M bolt carrier and JP bolt, SLR adjustable gas block, TriggerTech Diamond trigger, BCM MK 2 recoil system, NF ATACR 4-16x42 F1 w/ T3 reticle in Spuhr mount, CGS Helios QD-Ti can.
I'm amazed by the OSS/HUXWRX 7.62 Brake. It's not objectionably loud like most brakes, but accomplishes the braking function beautifully.
It's also a suitable host for a superb suppressor, the Flow 762 Ti.
Shot the 14.5" 6ARC out to 900 yards today, where at 8 mils I ran out of reticle.
Interesting side note: Hornady ammo speeds up 2 FPS with every one degree F increase.
5 LB 1 OZ 5.56 rifle built on a V7 billet receiver set and 13.5" rail with Noveske HFCL 14.5" "Skinny" profile (20.5 OZ) barrel. Everything titanium made by V7 is utilized. JP low mass bolt carrier group. TriggerTech competition trigger. BCM MK 2 recoil system with T0 buffer - Yes, I'm aware...
Another excellent choice, and I think the very best choice if you also want to shoot unsuppressed with a muzzle device on the gun. The HUXWRX Flow 762 Ti weighs in at just 11.8 ounces. Their 7.62 brake is the least objectionable I've ever used, plus incredibly effective.
A high back pressure ( but really quiet) suppressor will choke up a gas gun faster than you might think. And you'll be swallowing a lot of carcinogens.
For my money (meaning I have one), the most versatile single suppressor I've used is the CGS HELIOS QD TI. It has a very generous .36 caliber...
V Seven has wisely been using these for several years on their .300 Blackout barrels. Here's an example, showing a V Seven .300 BLK barrel on the left and a "normal" Craddock Precision .223 Wylde Bartlein on the right:
I was surprised to receive in recent days both a Proof CF 6 ARC barrel and...
I was set up with dealer terms for almost two decades with Young Mfg. When the new ownership took over, they would neither answer my emails or phone calls. After multiple attempts to contact them, I gave up and rolled over to JP as my #1 go-to choice. By that time, JP was DLC coating their...
In March of 2022 I chronographed three 12.5" 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, and 6mmARC uppers with factory loads.
6.5 Grendel - Hornady 123 SST - 2280 FPS
6.8 SPC - Remington 115 MatchKing - 2502 FPS (!!!)
6mmARC - Hornady 108 ELD-M - 2509 FPS
These were all new barrels that will speed up a tad with...
Just the JP bolt is DLC coated.
The JP bolt carrier has a black oxide finish, not nearly as tough as the DLC coating. JP does polish the rails on the bolt carrier nicely.
Les Baer bought a bolt carrier patent from Dan Young of Young Mfg. about 20 years ago. I believe Young Mfg. made all of the...
