Got some more mags from Beretta. Thanks for the tip. Shot the 17's this weekend and had pretty good luck with the CCI Green. Hornady NTX was good, but not quite as tight. (have to shoot non-lead for gr. squirrels in CA :poop:)
Thanks SporterII. I couldn't figure why I'd need more than a bit of elevation from the middle of the reticle since bullet runs out of steam for killing ground squirrels sooner than I would run out of elevation in a flat rail. Just thought I'd confirm my thinking. Now with a 22 lr... I'd be...
Anyone looking at the EGW 0 MOA rail for their t1x or 455 - I got a coupon code for the rail shipped for $66.72 from SWFA on the price match deal (Midway cost was $68.99).
Shoot me a PM if you want the code and I'll send it later today to the first person who requests it. I ended up getting...
Spoke with the folks at Eurooptic yesterday. They got in 25 17 HMRs and it appears they have all sold now. The Sako guys who came by their shop earlier this month indicated that 22 LR rifles would be here around Christmas. Apparently the first run of 17's was only 500 rifles - either total, or...
I've got the XL Kuiu for my HD-B 10x42s. The harness is great and fits over tshirts as easily as down parkas. I've found it protects the binos well while crawling through thick crap and I'm not worried about them getting scratched. Highly recommend them. You can add a ammo card onto the bottom...
I ordered the 300i kit, so needed the invoice with a breakout of the scale cost to qualify for the rebate.
I got a reminder and follow-up email from Randi @ A&D this morning asking if I had the itemized invoice from CE Products yet to submit for the rebate.
CE Products also followed up with...
You are rocking it, Dad! Nice work!! Must have been great spending so much time in the field with your daughter. Hopefully she's already looking foward to some 2018 hunts with you.
If you want to make this an even better deal, go buy some $100 gift cards from SVM on eBay for $80 or $82 each, sign up for a cash back site like active junky or swag bucks... I scored one when active junky had a 10% cash back day and C’s has free shipping and got it out the door for $238 once I...
20" WOA 1:8 twist, rifle length gas. Slash heavy buffer, standard spring and bcg.
123 Scenar, 42.6 gr H4350, Fed 210m, hornady brass, 2790 fps. Loaded to 2.760 COAL, I think.
Any thoughts on a starting point for a load in 6.5-284? 52 grains of H1000? Would a slow powder like H1000 be better than 4831? Currently having success with the 140's and H1000 at 55.5 gr.
Not saying you can't kill with the 70's, but your range becomes more limiting. IIRC, the minimum recommended impact velocity is 1800 fps with the TSX bullet (maybe 2000 fps for the TTSX?), so you're limited to a distance of ~275 yards assuming a MV of 2500 fps. With a 62 gr Tac X (my MV is 2750...
How waterproof are the the normal Uplanders? Do you treat them with something to make them more waterproof? I was looking at them, but Filson never seems to have them in stock. Lots of water/swampy areas where I hunt...
Are you married to the 70 grain TTSX?
When switching to a copper bullet, you want to drop a weight class, so I'd suggest the 55 or 62 grain TTSX. Speed kills with copper - not as much of an issue when shots are limited to 50 yards, but the faster the better for bullet performance with the monos.
2nd the Meindl boot recommendation. They have very little break-in period which is great for bitch feet.
I've got a pair of the Sorel pac boots for short, flat hikes in the snow and the are great for that, but you give up some support and traction compared to true boots like the Meindls. The...
Got an anemic 2775 fps average out of 51.5 grains of H1000 out of a 22" tube. <2.5" group at 400, but I need more speed.
No pressure signs up to 52.4 grains (max charge my first session). Next testing will go up to about 55.5 gr H1000 (my standard 140 HVLD load).
