    Load development help?

Yes, I'd say your reloading skills can use some work. I'd recommend focusing on your SD numbers as you evaluate whether you have something good or not, in terms of how well your reloading process is working. Given the tools you're using (and even with a Dillon 750) you should be able to do...

CBTO and Lands and different Bullets

this v v v v v v v "No. Every bullet will be different and some will be different lot to lot." Essentially, every new/different bullet (even the same bullet from a different lot) you'll need to measure bullet's distance to the lands for your starting point in developing a load for it. If...

    Storing Reloading "Stuff"

Likewise, simply don't like clutter. So I keep just about everything inside a cabinet until I'm ready to use it. I only now have a small bench top to work on, so I need to keep it clear for any work I might need to use it for. Before retiring, I had a huge work area filled with mostly wood...

    Annealing color

You might try cleaning some of those before annealing to see what happens; maybe some residue is causing the brass to burn that color (like maybe the previous owner annealed using a salt bath???).

It was I who asked about you COAL, and thanks. That helps me see pretty close as to what you're cartridge configuration is. As I mentioned before, it looks like you might have ~1 gr more to work with, which could still bring you over the SAAMI max depending on the temperatures you're...

    Supertrickler Scale Drift

I use my glass powder cup just like you do for your Area 419 cup. I've had drift not show when the cup was of the plate, as in your example, and when I put the empty cup onto the plate to see if I get a zero, I can get a drift reading. I don't get a drift very often, but I still will check my...

    Supertrickler Scale Drift

Yeah, it doesn't take much air movement to have an effect. Like I keep the clear breeze guards on my 120i, except for the front one to allow putting the pan onto the platter, and when I just move quickly to put the pan in, air is moved enough by my hand where I can see it on the readout. When...

    Supertrickler Scale Drift

I've been using an FX-120i now for a few years (manually throwing a charge and then manually trickling up) and haven't really had any drifting issue. It will definitely drift after a cold start and start weighing right away. Leaving it on for an hour or so, it settles down where I then don't...

    Supertrickler Scale Drift

With that kind of drift, you might as well be using a ChargeMaster. ;) BTW: I assume that before you use your Supertrickler's you have them turned on well before use (like maybe an hour beforehand)? These kinds of issues are deal breakers for me at that price point.

That would be my FIRST step.

Making 30-BR from Sig 277 brass

That picture I posted was from someone on another forum stating this was his barrel after ~ 230 rounds fired using loads that were not particularly hot (relatively speaking), something like getting 2750 fps out of a 20" 6.5 CR barrel. I hadn't checked that part of my chamber as didn't seen...

Making 30-BR from Sig 277 brass

I know you've formed and used these hybrid cases for different calibers. And if I recall correctly you also do your own barrels??? I'm wondering if you've check inside the chambers after a number of firings and found anything like this:
  13. straightshooter1

    Node at different barrel lenght

A "node" is technically a reference to the barrel's harmonics where there's the least movement at the muzzle and the projectile leaves the muzzle at the same position/angle resulting in more consistent POI's. Often it's nothing more than just a reference to where POI's stay consistent as...

    Node at different barrel lenght

To start with, two barrels of the same length, same material, same contour from the same company can still have chambers that are cut a little different even with the same reamer (reamers wear over time), which can produce different results. Even the bore can have a little different cut...

    Alpha brass base not flat

Yeah, you're right . . . brass expanding .010" on firing isn't going to produce such good results. I've never had that problem. As you can tell from my chart I posted above, my virgin Alpha brass fit nicely into my chamber (a Krieger barrel). :)

    Alpha brass base not flat

Hmmm??? Maybe it's just the particular lot of brass you happened to get? 🤷‍♂️ I'd get hold of Alpha and see what they and willing to do about it. If the cases are stretching that much upon firing, they probably won't last as long as expected. I didn't have any of those issues with the .308...

    Alpha brass base not flat

Typically, I find this is true. Spring of last year I finally got some Alpha brass for my .308 and loaded them up to fire form, not expecting any kind of good results. To my surprise, 80 consecutive shots chronoed showed an SD of 6.2 with ES of 29. I've never had virgin brass do so well...

    .308 Winchester

As I mentioned before, I'd say you have maybe 1 gr more of Varget to work with until pressure signs start to appear, and that can gain you about 50+ fps more from your 40.8 grs you're at. Is it worth it? It looks like that load did pretty well for you and maybe there some seating depth tuning...

    .308 Winchester

Sorry, knowing what CBTO you have doesn't really tell us anything about your seating depth, as different comparators will measure CBTO differently. Your comparator is meant only for you to compare measures you are taking. Their simply not precision measuring tools. Different comparators can...

    .308 Winchester

That cratering is not from over pressure of any kind. It is from excess space between the firing pin hole and the firing pin itself. It's really a common thing to see. That issue can be gotten rid of by having you bold "bushed", where that space it significantly reduced. As for the factory...
