Does Sierra Have Any QC At All?

I'd contact Sierra, show them this and ask for exchange.

    6.5 PRC Pressure signs

I've not used N560 myself, so I not sure how it compares to N565 other than what I see published where N560 had a significant higher burn rate. I'd expect higher pressure and velocity with N560 than N565??? I use N565 to push 142 SMK's and Berger 153.5's. For both of them, I get good...

    6.5 PRC Pressure signs

Just be aware, should you change cases, Norma case tend to have more case volume than others; like there 2-3 grs move volume than Lapua. So, if you use the same charge in Lapua, you'd be getting substantially more pressure. My favorite powder for my 6.5 PRC is the N565. I think you'll like...

    6.5 PRC Pressure signs

You're charge weight of 56 grs of N560 fills Norma cases just fine and normally shouldn't produce a pressure issue, though that charge is just a bit on the warm side. But those ejector marks are a sure sign of over pressure that needs to be addressed. I think you have a combination of things...

    Gracey Trimmer

My Giraud handles my .308 neck -sized only cases just fine. :giggle:

    Question about trimming

It's good to have uniform case lengths. It has to do with getting uniform blowby during ignition as the trailing part of the bearing surface clears the case mouth. Longer necks are helpful when seating bullets long so that the bullet maintains its runout in chambering the round.

NITROCELLULOSE - FROM IMPORT TO END PRODUCT

lol . . . and so many wonder why our gunpower has become so expensive. 😵‍💫

NITROCELLULOSE - FROM IMPORT TO END PRODUCT

I don't know, but I'd guess too it's likely. I think it is for solid rocket propellants.

NITROCELLULOSE - FROM IMPORT TO END PRODUCT

It's been my understanding for a long time that most of the nitrocellulose in the US is imported and most of that which is imported comes from China. Maybe this'll give you a good idea where it's all coming from: https://www.seair.co.in/us-import/product-nitrocellulose.aspx

    Discard cold bore shot?

For target shooting, yes. . . I always shoot a couple "cold bore sots" before load development, especially after a cleaning. For a hunting gun, where you want your first shot to be predictable, no! In fact, I want to only doe my load development shots when the bore is cold.

    .308 Winchester

Depends on the cases you're using. Cases vary in their volumes for the amount of powder they'll hold. 200 gr, 210 grs and 200.20x are all going to have very different COAL's and velocities. . .and very different from Berger 185's. The Berger 200.20x is a very good bullet to use in a .308...

    Consistency, or lack thereof

Any time you get new brass, you've going to find variations in their head space. This is why its a good idea to fire form them to your particular chamber before you do any load development and you don't want to measure case volume until they're fired in you chamber to you have the proper case...

    Consistency, or lack thereof

Just an FYI: When measuring case volume, I've found the best way to get a good measurement is when you've slightly over filled the case and trying to get it level to the case mouth, I use a light source (like a small flashlight) and shine it on the water where I can see whether the water is...

    Consistency, or lack thereof

Which model of NX8 do you have? One of the things I found that really helped me tighten up my groups was having a high powered scope on my gun. . . .even for when shooting at just 100 yds.

Where to source different bullet seating stems?

8 to 9 seconds sound just about right, IMHO Are you getting consistent seating depth? After annealing, that annealing process leaves an abrasive oxide coating on the surface that tends to affect seating consistency as well as bullet release. Since you're not using any lube on the inside, you...

Where to source different bullet seating stems?

You experiencing quite a bit of pressure when seating those bullets (which might not be felt when using presses like Forster's Co Ax)? What I did to elevate any ring from the seating process is to spin a bullet coated with some polishing compound into the seating stem, using an electric drill...

    .308 Winchester

Yeah, typically the distance from the lands is substantially more when loading to mag length than typical distance to the lands for hand feeding. It's pretty common, when the objective is to seat where the cartridges fit into one's mag, to start load development from max mag length and when a...

    Annealed brass opinion

Since I tend to load long and hand feed my 6.5 PRC cartridges for target shooting, my case fill is just a little less than that. Having used 3 different bullets (Berger 140 Hybrid, 142 SMK and Berger 153.5's) with H4831 SC, I've surprisingly got some very good SD's (like in the mid single...

    Annealed brass opinion

To find case volume, I find doing 10 is enough. Just be sure you're measuring fired brass, not sized or virgin brass. And having cases with the same OAL as variation is trim length can make quite a difference. And as you can tell in that Peterson Cartridge data, it's a good idea to do this...
