So over the Contrived and Repetitive Nature of Stages today

I think this may be the progression of all of the different disciplines. I can’t think of one shooting sport that hasn’t grown to a point, then slowly dwindled as people moved to the next best thing. All of the NRA sports are like this. Our LR state championship used to be 90+ shooters...

So over the Contrived and Repetitive Nature of Stages today

Real question for those that may know, are the matches still selling out? If so, are they still selling out in minutes? Days? Weeks?

So over the Contrived and Repetitive Nature of Stages today

Yeah, that makes sense in trying to grow the sport. If you can keep people coming back regularly. Do they still allow teams? Teams, allowing guys to be wind dummies so one guy could clean up, combined with guys bitching they won’t go unless the prize table was like $100k+ was really off...

So over the Contrived and Repetitive Nature of Stages today

This is an overall problem with people in this country in general, not just shooters. Seems many don’t appreciate working up from the bottom and trying to continually improve, regardless of what we’re talking about. They want to show up and be a top contender, which isn’t how most shit works...

So over the Contrived and Repetitive Nature of Stages today

Understood. The comment was directed at the guys I shoot with who resist or avoid shooting PRS. The comments on why not to try it revolve around the kit “needed” to compete and the types of positional shooting not having any relevance to what they have experienced or trained. Maybe it’s just...

So over the Contrived and Repetitive Nature of Stages today

I don’t know either. I understand caring what a match is called if you are working towards a ranking within that system (NRA is no different) but in almost all matches I shoot (not PRS) the lions share of competitors are out there to test themselves, be around like minded people and talk some...

So over the Contrived and Repetitive Nature of Stages today

Though nowhere near as big or “organized” as PRS in general, matches like Mammoth and Legion Sniper for teams (bolt and carbine) and smaller run and guns like Waco, Legion/Tenet and the Gun Runs have popped up IMO to fill some of what you’re referring to, Frank. (Run and gun being 90+%...

MK 12 Picture & Discussion Thread

Mail man just dropped the last of it. All I’m missing is another PRI Gas Buster, but I’m not 100% sure I’m going to use it as I plan on using this for Run and Gun, so a smaller latch helps keep the charging handle locked. (Think BCM gunfighter) A couple weeks and there should be a new...

Navy Mk12 RECCE with AEM3 anyone have one?

Intermediate gas tube is a no-go. I picked up a White Oak tube and it’d have the gas block out from under the handguard a bit, so the collar would be well forward. Going to run a mid length tube.

MK 12 Picture & Discussion Thread

As crazy as it sounds, I have started using N140 in one of my rifles just because of availability and (the amazing part) price. Who would have thought VV would be the reasonably priced powder. Picking up a gas tube, LPK, pistol grip and maybe a stickler today. I have an Aero lower and Geisslle...

You have a favorite load for 69s or 77s? I’m about to start loading my daily ammo off a 550, so I’m moving to 8208 and TAC.

24.4gr if either Varget or RL15 are wonderful loads with 77s. A touch slow at maybe 2650-2675, but very accurate and consistent. I like 7 1/2 BRs and 450Ms. (Or old Russian magnums if you can spare them) You can play with a taper crimp and primers to really tune it in, it I’m not good enough to...

Navy Mk12 RECCE with AEM3 anyone have one?

Yeah, i think it would be handier and quiet enough with the AEM3 but it would require the barrel to be like 14.6”, and I have 2 x 14.5s now. Really 15.1 doesn’t make sense, but the shit just looks cool :)

Besides Matt, and maybe Trevor S. I wonder if you’re the only one to accomplish this?

Navy Mk12 RECCE with AEM3 anyone have one?

So I have been doing some research and realized there is no point in doing a 15.1” w/ the KAC FF RAS and an AEM3. The mount length for the AEM3 is 2.05” , which is fine but if I want it to mount up close to get the RECCE profile this makes the barrel 14.5” and I really don’t need 3 x 14.5s...

Navy Mk12 RECCE with AEM3 anyone have one?

Had anyone built a Navy mk12 RECCE with the shorter AEM3? I’m about to build another rifle, and I have the KAC rail, and I think a Badger gas manifold on the way (haven’t gotten shipping confirmation) but I already have a Mod0, and still currently have a ModH that’s going to my Son in Law, so...
