    I was just looking at that thread and was like WTF? But then realized he's confused with maxing out the Erector tube and being off the optical center of the glass, which is a thing. Edit: Or I think it is anyways, maybe not. My eyes are to shitty to tell.

    As someone who went the Rem 700 route before I knew any better, don't. Sell the action and buy a custom, you will spend more than it's worth on the action and then feel married to it.

    Ya they aren't super cheap that's for sure. I don't enjoy paying taxes enough to declare my prizes.

    I don't think you are sacrificing anything. DOF and wind direction will be easier to capture directly on the 5700 but if you don't mind transferring that over NBD. The Kestrel is a bit clunky to use at first but once you get a handle on it, it's easy.

    I would say that is mostly anecdotal. Probably saw less vertical in one or two instances and just rolled with it. I've got both and I will say the ski can pivot to follow the angle of the ground where the sled feet don't.
