Advanced Marksmanship Technique for rope/bungee/chain &spring supports

I saw that one when you posted it! Very cool idea. A lot more portable than a full barricade for sure! And the added wobble makes it more challenging than a typical barricade.

What gear will help me the most in prs

Don't chase equipment to "get better". Buy a Pint Size Game Changer (awesome as rear bag and barricade support bag), plus 1000 rounds of Hornady 140 ELD factory ammo. That would still be well about 1100-1200. Dryfire on barricade and make virtual stages to run dryfiring. If you "shoot" 100...

    Range Report Switchy Winds Today

As far as putting tape/wind indicators on targets, I use construction marking tape (super thin plastic) that floats really really easily in the wind. It's cheap and shows changes of just 1mph or less pretty easily. CH Hanson Fluorescent Orange Flagging Tape If you also add a heavier ribbon or...

    Ruger Precision Rimfire

Pictures of mods to bolt and magazine. Bolt nose is rounded and tapered back. It's hard to see, but I've put a slight taper in the bolt for the first 1.5" or so. Also sanded/polished all edges to smooth bolt stroke and feeding. I could definitely go further with this and I think it would...

    Ruger Precision Rimfire

Exactly. I think the mag sits differently after running bolt a few times and it affects how the bullets get "marked/damaged" while being chambered. It seems they correct themselves and become consistent after 1st or 2nd shot. I know I can get pics of the mag before/after, but I didn't take...

    ARCA rail bipod placement

Found the same issue even on Manners PRS2 that has rail that extends forward of stock. I make sure the front edge of RRS clamp is placed directly under a mounting screw for this reason. Had 1-2" extra vertical that I couldn't explain until move bipod rearward to a better supported area of rail...

SK Launches New Long Range Match .22 LR Ammunition

I've heard a few theories in this for sure. The one that almost sounds the most credible is actually cold vs hot air. Meaning, an unfired barrel has normal ambient temp air in the chamber through the muzzle while a fired barrel has hotter air with other gases left over from combustion of the...

    Ruger Precision Rimfire

Just in case anyone else is having issues with first round or two acting as flyers (high, left, right, etc) I had the chance to work on my buddies rifle (and mine previously) and solved his issue. The 15 round mags that come with the rifle fit about as well as a hotdog in a hallway. But I...

    Which 22lr rifle

If just for general plinking and accuracy/precision isn't the most important quality for the rifle, a 10/22 is cheap, upgradable and they are EVERYWHERE. But the CZs are generally very accurate and worth the money if you can get one in your budget. Solid bolt actions. But for more PRS style...

What software / app for measuring group sizes?

BallisticX for phone and On target for PC (that's what you have in your photo. OnTarget is more feature rich in terms of saving and zooming, plus has some other measurements/aggregates that can be useful. Along with the ability to put multiple groups on a single photo. But BallisticX is...

Rifle Scopes Finally ordered my Sig Tango 6...

The only thing things that prompted me to sell my 4-24: It was MOA Force required to unlock turret was very very stiff. And turrets were wobbly when unlocked, which made me very nervous running them unlocked in and out of barricades. They should have left the top turret non locking and it...

Range Report New 224 Valkyrie Ammo from Federal

80.5 Full bore has a slightly different ogive shape (tangent shape) vs 80 VLD which has a secant shape and is slightly longer in overall length. Generally, the 80.5 should be more forgiving for jump/seating depth compared to the VLD. Not always the case but in my experience, this holds true.

Range Report Done with Hornady tipped bullets....?

I'd shoot and test seating depth at 300-400 minimum with at least 4 or 5 rounds per group. Mainly because it's easy to get fooled with 3 round tests. Seating depth testing is alot like OCW style testing, except your looking for the tighest consistent group node(s) that are as wide as...

Range Report Done with Hornady tipped bullets....?

So to help you out, if it's still unclear, you can find the mathematical group center of each group (in your picture, it would very close to the center bullet). There is a way to do it by hand, but honestly, it's a bit time consuming and it's WAAAYYY faster to simply use BallistiX or On target...

Range Report Done with Hornady tipped bullets....?

I'm going to add my method is NOT a pure OCW test but the goal is the same: get two or three charges to impact in the same group center position so that seating depth can tweak group size smaller. Ideally, flat groups of at least 4 rounds or so. It works much better if you do your homework...
