Precision Rifle Gear Chad vs Botnia

Really glad you don't have an issue, there are those of us who do. My daughter is one of them who if exposed to the blast from say a little bastard brake will end up in a dark room for another day recovering. I now do everything I can to protect my family from long term injury so I am moving...

    Switch barrel build

For my Impact actions I am now running 100 lb/ft of torque on the barrels ( was running 75lb/ft). I will be using a Strap wrench on my Zues barrel from now on the increase the torque lockup of the barrel then tightening the set screws.

Best 5.56 grain for 1:7 SPR

The federal is match ammo, should shoot great, the black hill will also be pretty good.

Best 5.56 grain for 1:7 SPR

77grain SMKs are my favorite 223/556 AR bullets. I go heavier for my bolt guns.

Precision Rifle Gear Chad vs Botnia

I am aware of them, and yes they can and are being done everyday. Fan blades are commonly done using additive manufacturing methods. The parts in a gas path most often require clean up to provide a smooth air flow. That said a decent CAD suite can create the design, model it, and run a flow...

Precision Rifle Gear Chad vs Botnia

Agreed! I work in a rather large Aerospace company and we are exploring additive. It is great to prototype a design, and can be spectacular for an emergency repair part, but it is also not all that great in gas thrust environments without cnc cleanup. Would be it work, sure but it MAY be a life...

Best 5.56 grain for 1:7 SPR

I love the 80.5 Fullbores, spectacular bullet! I use those in 1:7 223 bolt gun. ❤️

Get a quality 69-77gr match round ( Federal Gold Medal being the standard go to) 1-7 likes a long bullet. Remember that factory ARs generally are doing well to hold sub 1” groups, some can be spectacular but those have higher end custom barrels. But plan for between .75” and 1” at 100 yards.

    Switch barrel build

Yeah me too but I check them each range trip. I hate pulling the action from the stock a couple of times a year more. All my other actions are Impacts. I just love hot rodding the 22 creed enough to tolerate them ( never found them loose yet)

The set screws ( 2 of them) provide a 2 points of resistance that support the larger source of resistance, the barrel shoulder mating to the action. I can’t speak for anyone else but mine had a decent level of friction when I “ hand” tighten the barrel. So,Is it TacOps tight, nah, but when you...

    Switch barrel build

We will respectfully agree to disagree. I find it interesting from a materials perspective that a pair of set screws of such small diameter installed using 10 in/lb could affect a thick barrel tenon. But they are a very well respected action that sells faster than they can make them so by all...

This conversation has taken a really strange turn🤔

Precision Rifle Gear Chad vs Botnia

I have some chads and I agree it is a warm wind and not the concussion driving blast of many Brakes. That said I prefer using my CAT JL.

    Switch barrel build

I can’t spin the action with the scope (ZCO 8-40) mounted without hitting the barrel vice. The only way would be to grip the barrel way down on the tapered section and I can’t get a great grip there.

Rifle Scopes Official Zero Compromise Optic News & Updates

I have heard nothing and really don't care if I ever do. I think the whole wide FOV is a bit of a red herring, it is not that big an issue.

    Switch barrel build

Yeah they work Really well, my Impacts are spectacular. That said I personally hate removing barreled actions and scopes just to change a barrel. especially when it has to happen frequently ( my Zues is a 22 Creed, barrel life is about 650-700 rounds). Set screws are fine, AI has been doing it...
