    Pictures would be very helpful. Port location? Port size? CAR or Rifle buffer? Weight of buffer? Load might be mild for a bolt gun but depending on burn rate, might actually be causing issues in a gas gun. What powder, charge weight & bullet is being used in load?

    OP, if you want 2.800” OAL ammo to feed via factory Rem 700 mag box and improved LR performance vs 168 / 175 SMK, the 190 SMK / NCC is worth looking at. You gain more in BC than you lose in velocity.

    I was mistaken, 2.870” OAL puts BT / bearing at N/S. Juggernaut takes jump just fine. Stay w/185 Juggernaut for your longer range use, does appreciably better than 175 SMK.

    You will be longer than 2.800” OAL, will not fit in 700 BDL magazine. You’ll be longer than 2.870” OAL, won’t fit in an AICS magazine w/binder plate. Even at 2.900” OAL, you’ll still be jumping the 185 Juggernaut over 0.060” in factory Rem 700 chamber; Juggernaut takes jump just fine. Longer...

    6.5 prc COAL and cbto question 156gr Berger

    2.95” OAL is to fit in SA AICS magazines w/o front plate. XM action allows for 3.150” OAL, from memory, so utilize that extra room. I’d jump 0.040” as a starting point. Longer OAL will drop pressure (and velocity) vs shorter OAL.

    Use trued 700 or a 700 clone. Might need to mod ejector so it can protrude farther out to reliably kick fired case off bolt face, out of receiver. Maybe a mechanical ejector (Win 70 CRF / CRPF, Bighorn TL3, ARC Nucleus,…) so you can either launch case 10 feet away or just barely make it out of...

    What bullet(s) are available, as in currently on your reloading bench? Which of the bullets give you best accuracy with desired energy at 500 yds? Heavy bullets lose less performance in shorter barrel so 165-178 gr, maybe 185 gr, is your best bet. I personally wouldn’t drop down to 150-155 gr...

    AR new barrel cycling issues

    18” bbl, rifle gas system, 0.093” diameter port, correct? 0.093” diameter port is normal for 20”, rifle gas system. Probably need 0.098” to run w/o using suppressor, maybe as large as 0.102” but easier to open port so I’d recommend starting at 0.098”.
