    Bighorn Origin Build Thread

The radii around the notch in the front of the magazine well were increased so rounds won't hang up and the front was pushed forward a very small amount to accommodate the OAL that magazine system allows. Thanks - Ray

    Price of Origin Action

Origin's should be $900 for short actions and $1000 for medium and long actions as that is our new MAP structure for 2022. TL3's and SR3's have also increased: $1300 for shorts and $1400 for mediums and longs. Thank you - Ray

First Bolt Action Build (.223) Questions

The Origin will not accommodate the .223 case diameter fed from a BDL. That's due to the width of the feedlips. .223 and similar cases need to be fed from a DBM in the Origin. The SR3 can be made to accommodate those cartridges, but you'd have a dedicated action for that purpose if you decided...

    Is this action, toast? (Resolved)

We use Shooters Choice All Weather Grease. It's good to keep some lubrication on the lug abutments and around the stem of the shroud inside of the bolt body. Thanks - Ray

    RimX Bore Guide?

Correct. The geometry needed for the ejector puts the slot off center and unable to be ambidextrous. Thanks - Ray

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

If you were operational without issues in the MPA, you're bolt handle is probably touching the stock since this issue showed up after the change. Make sure there's clearance between the handle and the stock. Thanks - Ray

    Is this action, toast? (Resolved)

I can't be 100% certain without this in hand, but if it was that timeline, it could have been an NP3 coated bolt and if that coating starts to flake on the bolt head, issues rear their heads FAST. We'll keep our eyes open for your email and get this sorted out. Shouldn't be more than a few...

    Is this action, toast? (Resolved)

We'd like to see it in person. Shoot me an email and we'll get that back in hand to inspect it. [email protected] Thank you - Ray

Range Report .223 trainer-experienced input needed!!!

At .195" firing pin travel, you're about spot on for timing as the action is designed and should be able to expect consistent ignition given proper geometry in the full system. There were a few factors that went into that design change from the TL2/SR2 design. Mostly, it was about the feel of...

Where to get Origin or t3 prefits

Tenons that are the same: TL3/SR3 Long Action = Origin Short Action = Origin Long Action = Origin Medium Action TL3/SR3 Short Action = TL3/SR3 Medium Action That being said, most ORIGIN pre-fits have less threads and a full diameter boss between the end of the threads and the shoulder of the...

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

There haven't been any changes. We've heard of issues here and there but there just hasn't been enough consistency to warrant a product change at this point. If you'd like to try a new spring, just let me know and we'll get that sorted out. Wolff is making the current springs for us now. So...

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

Don't let the troll get to you. They've been in and out of this place a few times spewing garbage that certainly doesn't add to the conversation. It takes all kinds of kinds they say.

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

To be honest, you should leave the ejector in the receiver when you use the action wrench and just stop when the wrench hits the ejector. It will have more lug engagement and torque will be absorbed better by the receiver. Being that far away from the threads is acceptable since there is...

    TL3 firing pin issue?

Can you pull the firing pin on the troubled bolt out and try to spin the shroud on the pin? If it moves, you may just need to remove the two set screws (1/16" Allen wrench) and tighten things back down. If it doesn't move, just let us know and we'll get a replacement and a return label heading...

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

JUST FOR CLARITY: There was not an update to anything dimensionaly. We made a material change to the extractor (schematic attached) that has proven to be a good decision. There have not been any changes made to the tensioner in any capacity. Thank you - Ray

    Rimx build wont fire

It's almost certainly related to the trigger. We can modify the cocking piece to create more clearance if that's not been done yet. Thank you - Ray

    TL3 Ejection Problems

What size and ejection port extractor is it? If that didn't fix it, we'll take a look at all of them we've got on hand to make sure they're good to go and work with you to sort it out. Thanks - Ray
