    What defines an MPVO?

Thanks for replying. Did your son feel like the HUGE .5" CD obscured his shot, JK.

    What defines an MPVO?

Do you happen to remember what magnification and distance you shot this doe at?

    What defines an MPVO?

Asking a question which is what is your desired lowest magnification for a MPVO? Too start I rarely use below 2x. In my case only when mowing down my plate racks at 12y to try to realize a time difference, but speed wise I'm seemingly the same speed at 1.5x and 2x as I am on 1x with my LPVO...

    What defines an MPVO?

IMHO, defining a MPVO as optimally; 1.1x to 3x for the lower magnification to have the larger FOV. Between 38mm to 50mm objective. Relatively compact scope. Relatively lightweight scope. A reticle that can be seen well at lowest magnification but not intrusive at highest magnification...

I Spy New Baby Theos 2-10x

They, those in charge of the rules, it seems in every shooting sport, make silly decisions, especially as a particular sport progresses over the years but the rule makers are still stuck a decade or two back. I'm presently thinking right now of three of those sports and the different ways the...

I Spy New Baby Theos 2-10x

I live out west where a shot could be 50 yards in the junipers and long range just up ahead, so for me having 12x vs 10x is enough that I would rather have 12x. Kinda proven it to myself by using my March 1-10 and my Helos G2 DMR2-12. For longer distances 12x for sure. Though I recently got a...

The most fun airgun I ever had = Western Mordax Venom.

AOA sent me a Venom Long Strike 25 caliber kit to try and it's impressive how much power I'm getting. 50 fpe using 34gr pellets and 2 mags worth/30 pellets, at that. It's not even turned up all the way either. Fairly precise too doing one group less than an inch at 100Y.

    Rimfires vs. Airguns

JPS, glad you had a great time. You mentioned a 'very calm day' which makes a big difference at 50Y windage wise when comparing a 22rf having a .15 G1 BC vs 18gr pellets having a .033 G1 BC. I know you know all this already but many might not understand that. In other words had it been windy it...

Any mountain bikers out there 2.0

Just buy whatever bar suits your fancy. For example I've got a short torso, not long arms either, so I was bent over and leaned too far forward on all my bikes to begin with so I bought higher bars with more back sweep. You can also buy handlebar stems of many lengths, heights, etc, and...

Any mountain bikers out there 2.0

You kinda need those 12 speeds for a MTB, plus you get used to the whole experience very quickly, and they work so well these days. The e shift systems buttons can be double or triple tapped if needed. Not used often but I've needed it on occasion. Some mechanical shifting systems, when...

Any mountain bikers out there 2.0

Now's the time of year, especially at higher altitude cities, when the rental bikes go on sale because winter is coming on, so might try those places. But there's always PinkBike classifieds which is where I found one of my bikes when a guy was selling his about 15 minutes away but...

Any mountain bikers out there 2.0

And age, general health, remaining physicality, altitude, etc. These and the fun factor lead this old guy to EMTB'S which was right near the top of the best life changing decisions I've made. Maybe even to the point of saving my life.

    Budget Scope Recommendations

Very budget oriented is the Athlon Helos G2 4-20x50(many buy this one and never step up higher), next up the Midas TAC's- most don't have illume so saves some $, from there specifically the Ares BTR G3 2.5-15x50 which is IMHO the best bang for the buck in this magnification range and very...

The new Athlon Ares BTR G3 2.5-15x50, initials, and ongoing thoughts.

Congrats on all of that!!! I had no idea one could get a cap for the windage on these. That's like a cherry on top of wip cream. Can you ask them to send us a locking elevation turret and a daylight bright illume module, ha ha.

Is the .17HMR really much better than .22LR for varmints?

Thanks for the info. I could see that but yeah still some hassles. The best compromise I found that works out well for energy levels in this range was to use a reduced load in my 5mmFBI/20VT AI and cheap blem Nosler 32gr HP's. At first I tried to load it too light and used the wrong powders so...

The most fun airgun I ever had = Western Mordax Venom.

Been having a great time and ended up buying a March DFP 1.5-15x42 to put on my Venom. What a fantastic combo together in form and in function. I've had more fun with this set up than any other gun I've had, no not kidding, and this including firearms! I go 40 yards from my front door to my...

The new Athlon Ares BTR G3 2.5-15x50, initials, and ongoing thoughts.

I was curious to do a comparison with my Ares BTR G3 2.5-15 and my new March DFP 1.5-15x42 so I did one this morning. Keep in mind this March was a tad less than $3000 and this Ares can be had for less than $600 now that it's been out a while. Here's my opinions; Let's start with the turrets...

    Maggie’s What's Your View II

A bull visiting the drinker which is near my airgun range. I have rocks behind each spinner so no projectiles leave my property. It's almost dark so it's tough to make out the targets.

    6 ARC Longevity

22" barrel, I get 95 SMK at 2924 fps out of my 6mmFatRat which is an AI'd 6.5G Lapua case. I've used 105's and the juice isn't worth the squeeze when compared. Mainly it's surprising how much tamer the recoil impulse is and no different in wind drift because slightly less BC but going faster...

Is the .17HMR really much better than .22LR for varmints?

I reloaded for 5.7x28 for a while and it was a PITA for these reasons; #1 only a 10th of grain over charge would blow primers and a little below max pressure would shorten case life a lot. That meant measuring every powder charge to being almost perfect and a slower load. #2 the darn cases...
