Case sizing with mandrel - seating issues

Yep, that works. Until you get tired of / irritated with additional steps for each-and-every-case, and decide to go a different route.

Case sizing with mandrel - seating issues

Assuming that was supposed to read "shouldn't"... I'll have to disagree, somewhat. Back when I was wet tumbling on the regular... I was having *horrible* problems with the mandrels loading up with brass from the case necks/mouths. Doesn't take very much, and it starts doing very bad things to...

Official Area419 ZERO Press - All Things ZERO

Hope it sticks for you... I went Co-Ax -> 550 -> Zero -> back to the Co-Ax -> back to the 550 ;) Less tool heads to keep track of is nice.

Lapua 7PRCW turned brass develops dounuts?

Are you sure that's actually a donut, in the traditional sense? Typically those manifest *inside* the case, at the neck/shoulder junction. Or is it an unsized section of the neck, due to a radius at the bottom of your neck bushing and/or a floating neck bushing riding up a bit in the die? If...

    Gouges in Freebore

I was under the impression that it was fairly standard for that transition from the neck to the freebore to be a 45 degree angle...

Ring on brass (not case head separation)

Does the mark on the case line up with where the case sits in an ammo box? Around here, .308 Win cases get what we refer to as the "Rattlesnake Ring" when you put them in a green MTM 100rd box. The fine talc dust from the range ((www.tcsa.info) tends to coat *everything*, but in particular it...

    ARC Coup de Grace Builds

Yes, please keep us updated on how it works. I saw that on their website a couple weeks ago but I had a new barrel blank coming in for my new-to-me CDG so I didn't pursue it further. I was under the impression that some cartridges (6.5CM and bigger) could maybe get by without the coned...

Adapters for the A&d fx120i scale

My $0.02 worth... I absolutely would *not* mount any kind of rotary powder thrower directly to the scale. I'd either find or make a thrower stand that sits/mounts off to the side. Throw the charge into the cup, and gently sit the cup on the scale. Or if you must, position the thrower directly...

Accuracy International Rifle as a F-Class Rifle????

You should try it around sling shooters some time. They piss and moan so much about cans *or* brakes I want to offer them a tampon.

Accuracy International Rifle as a F-Class Rifle????

F/TR - 308 Win or 223 Rem, weight limit 8.25 kg or roughly 18 lbs 2 oz. F-Open - under .35 cal, weight limit 10 kg or 22 lbs. Both weights are as you would lift the gun off the ground - anything that comes with the gun ie bipod, sling, whatever - counts towards that weight. Fat barrel = skinny...

How important is AW mag compatibility to you? Would you buy a non-AW cut action in 2025?

Just bought my first action with an AW cut (ARC CDG), and picked up a couple AI AW mags for it. Fingers crossed that they live up to the hype, cuz I really kinda hate AICS mags - they're a PITA to load, and I've never felt like they fed all that great compared to other true double-stack /...

I put a deposit on the arbor press... figure I'll give them another month before I start bugging them ;)

Solus or Origin for first custom build?

In theory, the Solus 'looks' better on paper - integral rail, recoil lug, "fat" bolt with 60 degree throw, trigger hanger, cut for AW mags. None of which I've ever really found myself 'needing'. The rail and lug on the Origin are pinned, the 90 degree bolt is maybe a little lighter, and I've...

    Black wavy marks on brass

If you're having to 'beat the crap' out of your cases post tumbling with rice, you're doing something wrong - like the wrong grain size of rice. Smaller, shorter grains work better and come out pretty much just like corn/walnut, with a regular rotary media separator. The 'milled' stuff that...

    6 ARC headspace

Dunno if I have that data anymore. Kinda done flogging this dead horse; not planning to pursue this any further. If I get another 6 ARC barrel, it'll be from a better quality manufacturer, and I'll probably spring for a 'matched' bolt to avoid this kind of shenanigans.

    6 ARC headspace

Trust me, we (me and BA) went over all that. By my measurements (from the back of the lugs to the nose of the bolt, and subtracting the depth of the bolt face) it's a thou or so past the middle of the range for the spec (IIRC, it's been a minute) - but the fired cases still come out measuring...

    6 ARC headspace

After some back and forth with their support desk, the situation is that they are adamant that the chamber is as it should be and the problem is either a) I lack the ability to measure correctly, b) my PTG headspace gauge(s) are short / out of spec, c) my Rubber City bolt is out of spec. I have...

    223 Powder Issues

I've always considered it kind of a natural law that if a 223 Rem won't shoot well using a 50-55gn bullet and either 25-ish gn H335 or 26-ish gn W748... either the gun or the shooter is defective.
