    Barrel Torque Ludicrocity

I wouldn't be happy with that answer either, and that answer does not sound like the usual response from ARC. Sucks you had that experience. I only have 2 early CDGs and both are well within print spec. The other 7 I've measured and swapped bolt heads between were 4 Archimedes and 3 nucleus...

    Barrel Torque Ludicrocity

Interesting, +0.004" over print dimension is certainly enough to cause an issue with a prefit and I don't blame you for not wanting to do prefits for them anymore... Nobody likes dealing with returns and reworks when it could have been avoided. I'm sure you've measured a much larger sample size...

Accuracy international out of pocket calibers

That is super cool you have some of those original brochures. Back around 2013ish a member here said he had one of the 223 AW Varminters that he purchased in the late 90s, but he declined to sell when I inquired or even send me pictures of it as I really wanted to see the bolt and magazines...

S&B 1-8x25 short dot - illumination not working

Try a different brand of battery. 2032 cells are supposed to be made to a dimensional standard but different brands often have slightly different dimensions and edge radii, and some brands don't play nice in certain battery holders.

Accuracy international out of pocket calibers

Wade Stuteville made a 6 dasher barrel for my AI back around 2014/2015, but I cheated and used it on my AIAE Mk3 as I knew I could easily get it to run and feed from the single stack AICS magazines used by the AE... I tested feeding with dasher dummy rounds feeding into a 6.5cm barrel as proof...

    Barrel Torque Ludicrocity

To anyone who thinks the above values are crazy, if you look up engineering data for suggested torque by thread diameter and pitch the numbers Mike posted above are reasonable for the thread diameter and pitch you find in R700 style actions. I'd also say based on his tiny, tiny test targets and...

    Bye bye tail rotor.

Based on the video it sure appears to initially be a failed or disconnected pitch change link that is swung outwards by centripetal force, followed by tail blade pitch asymmetry as at that point one blade is still connected and controlled as normal while the other will take a neutral aerodynamic...

    Bye bye tail rotor.

There is another much clearer video out there which appears to show a possible pitch link failure for one of the tail rotor blades which then sets the whole sequence of events off; with intact and unburned wreckage plus multiple videos I'm confident the FAA will come up with a definitive cause...

AXMC 338 Lapua to 300 PRC Conversion Issue

You may want to call Mile High or Euro Optic and see if they have any 1.6mm 300WM bolts that aren't spoken for in their next AI order and get on the backorder list now so you don't miss out and have to wait for the next batch. Euro Optic has a bunch of AI parts (including AXMC bolts) that are...

AXMC 338 Lapua to 300 PRC Conversion Issue

LRIs bushed bolts and modified firing pins are not compatible with the factory AI 1.6mm bolt bodies, and a factory AI 1.6mm firing pin won't work in an LRI bushed bolt. I've had both. While the LRI turned down firing pin will fit in a factory AI 1.6mm bolt body a good portion of the LRI modified...

AXMC 338 Lapua to 300 PRC Conversion Issue

If you have a small 1.6mm firing pin you need all 1.6mm small firing pin bolt bodies. You can also buy a complete 2.0mm firing pin assembly to use with that new large firing pin 300wm bolt body you have, but that's $500+. I would send the large firing pin 300wm bolt back and exchange it for a...

AXMC 338 Lapua to 300 PRC Conversion Issue

Firing pin protrusion should not have to be adjusted between bolt bodies. However, if you had a 1.6mm small firing pin 338 bolt and firing pin already, it will not work with the large firing pin #20013 300wm bolt you purchased. If you want to confirm, pull your current firing pin assembly out...

    Accuracy International Picture Thread

Be nice if G ten gets their export license sorted out. I checked them out a while back and they have the best selection of used parts for older AIs I've ever seen... wonder where they're sourcing all of those parts. I had a bunch of stuff in my cart before I noticed they couldn't ship to the US...

    Accuracy International Picture Thread

Nice they had the FP assembly... wonder if they're still making AW/AWM parts or just working through old inventory and when it's gone, that's it? Even just trying to get stocksides for an AT, not to mention an AE/AW/AWM is a chore. I know the old one piece stock sides were discontinued long ago...

    Accuracy International Picture Thread

Careful, now you're really making him not feel "internet safe" and he's going to notify the mods... you stalker. The mod just closed the thread at his request, lol! I also dug through his post history for mention of a location and then did google searches for pictures inside gun shops in that...

    Accuracy International Picture Thread

Someone didn't research recent AW & AWM selling prices very well, doesn't care, or just wants them sold quick provided the post was true... I'm very tempted to make a $12k impulse buy if I knew where they were. Also, having not looked at THR in years, I'm glad to see the same high percentage of...

    ARC Coup de Grace Builds

On the subject of negative combs, I'm still irritated manners didn't make the new pro pack folder with a pronounced negative comb and a fixed elevated cheek rest being that cleaning rod access wouldn't be a problem with the folder. Would have been awesome to have a light hunting stock with an...

22 BR Barrel Length and Twist Rate

Depends on the bullet. Even though 300k rpm is considered the start of the danger zone by many including the bullet manufacturers, I've never had a bullet fail at 300k. 340-350k and above though, absolutely, but it's very bullet and barrel dependent. In my 223 Ackley I had the 50 nosler btlf...

22 BR Barrel Length and Twist Rate

If you're going for max speed my preference is 28-30" for a 22BR... but since you mentioned suppressed that's going to make for a very long rifle. You can go shorter, but you'll give up speed. For long range use I really like the Berger 85.5 and it's very happy in a 7 twist, that's what I'm...

What upper receivers are you guys using to get a good thermal fit?

Funny I see this thread pop up as I’m currently looking up some numbers for elevated temperature processing on 7075-T6 parts at work. Warm forming/working of 7075-T6 aluminum IS perfectly acceptable and a standard industry practice… I have a spec from NASA open right now regarding that very...
