Snake River Outdoorsman NRL Hunter match

Coyote hunting is a great way to train on target acquisition. Small difficult to see targets and you get some shooting practice. I’ve only done one NRL Hunter match so far and lots of Steel Safari, but finding targets is where I excelled. I attribute a lot of that to chasing after yotes.

Who here is in North Dakota?

Just got back to ND after a long hiatus in New Mexico and Louisiana. New Mexico if far windier than ND.

    6.5 creedmoor srp

Yikes! I read you're previous post above and saw the issues with a pierced primer. I would definitely not continue using CCI-400s with that brass/powder/barrel/action combination. You certainly don't want to damage that awesome GAP build. If you're trying to develop a load for it, you...

    6.5 creedmoor srp

You can push the live primers back out with your re-sizing die's decapping pin and save them for practice rounds. The RCBS collet bullet puller also works nicely for taking apart loaded rounds. Just load them up again as practice fodder.

    Dog flea/tick control

I guess you must work for PetArmor? Nice commercial. I’ve had great luck with Frontline on two dogs now. The first one was a husky that had Frontline applied 6-9 months out of the year (warm spring/summer season) and lived to be 16 1/2. No neuro issues whatsoever. The current dog, a husky...

2024 Elk Draw - help appreciated

If you want to hunt elk in NM, you need to think archery or muzzle loader. Rifle tags have very low draw odds, especially for non-residents. The state has one of the best lottery systems though in that its a completely random draw. Everyone has a shot every year, no preference points.

Barrel up or barrel down when riding

Certainly possible, not like Texas high fence deer have anywhere to run to. Why risk zipping a round through your buddy’s femoral though. It only takes a split second to rack one in as you come on target.

Barrel up or barrel down when riding

This . . . Why on earth would you ride around in a vehicle with a round in the chamber? Are the animals going to shoot you? You’re not going to sneak up on them in a vehicle so there’s no reason to be in a “condition one” state of readiness. If I’m ever around people who think otherwise, it...

PRS Talk Anyone here RO the Gunwerks NRL Hunter Match?

Has this match always been held out on Sheep Mountain? I just signed up for it this year. The land out there is a mix of BLM and private so I was curious as to what sections it’s on. Seems like it would be hard to block off access to the BLM portions for a match.

    7 PRC market penetration

You said “penetration” huh, huh, huh . . . In all seriousness, if anything is tamping down the 7 PRC craze here in the states, it’s the lack of reloading components, particularly primers, for the non-factory sorts. Doesn’t help that it’s an election year and the world is on fire with two wars.

Physical Fitness Anyone have hip arthritis

Good info on here. I'm the same age as the OP and have already been diagnosed with osteo arthritis and piriformis in my right hip. My Dad just had his second hip replaced a few weeks ago and is toughing out the recovery in his mid 70s. I know I'm going to be in for it and certainly think...

    ARC hunting rifle builds

From watching the video describing all this (), it looks like putting a CDG into a hunting chassis/stock would be pretty straightforward. I have zero desire to mess with BDL ever again so using AW or AICS mags in short action or AICS/CIP in long action are perfect. I can confirm AICS mags work...

    ARC hunting rifle builds

Here's one of the better builds I've done off of an ARC action. Its a Mausingfield M7 open top short action with a Bartlein left hand gain twist barrel in 7 SAUM sitting in a Manners LRH stock. 10.3 lbs without the bipod/can. Fantanstic set up. For my next one, I'm really leaning towards...
