Good Methods to Remove Dust from Media?

I run my vibratory tumbler outside when I change to fresh walnut. Depending on how sporty I want to be, I have put my shop fan about 12" away from the tumbler to speed up the dedusting. I usually run it without an additive or brass when I do this.

    Remington 7.5 vs CCI 450 in 223/223AI

I've did a load work up in my 223AI using both Varget and Re15, 450/7.5/Wolf SRM, and Berger 80.5's and 80 VLD's. The edge went to the 450's with the Wolf SRM being very close in accuracy. The numbers were pretty much interchangeable. The 7.5 loads did shoot well but not as good as the other two.

Got a 454 Casull on the way

That particular bullet has been very accurate for me in my FA83. The only cases I've used are Starline SRP and I use either a 450 or a Rem 7 1/2 primer. Mine is scoped with a Leupold 4x and thinks it's a rifle. I also have 83's in 357 and 44, both scoped. They shoot as accurately as the 454/45...

To Anneal, or not to Anneal, That is the Question

I'm in the every firing camp. I use a vertex and wait until I have enough to make the process worthwhile. I have a pile of brass per caliber so don't need to do it each time I shoot (unless I want to).

Got a 454 Casull on the way

7.5" ported FA Premier here (mine has the bushinged forcing cone so it's an old one). H110 is all I use for the 454 loads and I stay around 300 grain bullets. It can be entertaining with 28+ grains of H110. I'll leave the heavy loaded 325+ grain bullets to y'all. However, when i use my own...

    Hornady Sub-X .300 BLK 190gr. Ammo

I bought a couple boxes each of the 190 SubX and 208 BTHP ammo from a chain store. The 190's were in Hornady brass and the 208's were in Starline. FWIW, the Starline brass had crimped primers like the Hornady brass.

    223 Ackley Improved

I'm not sure I've ever used H4895 in my 223AI and I have a bunch. I use either Varget or Re15 with my lot of Re15 acting a touch faster than my Varget. I may have to try it.

    223 Ackley Improved

I'm sure you will but keep us updated. My set up works fine as it is yet I'm curious when your set up will start to bump the shoulders on your brass.

    223 Ackley Improved

No, I only use a Co-Ax for sizing. Way back in this thread I mentioned mine 223AI bushing FL sizer has never bumped the shoulder (that I can measure anyway) but the cases chamber with no resistance. I have no real idea why we get no bump with the Redding FL sizers but if I was a betting man I'd...

    223 Ackley Improved

I don't know about "most", but yes anyway. IME, a 400 is more or less the same as a 550. In 300 Blackout, 357 Magnum/327 Federal revolvers, I would use the 400’s and 550's interchangeably (but not for my higher pressure 223AI or Grendel's). In my one 223AI, I want a hard cup as my loads tend...

Is bedding the AR barrel a myth? What's the best way?

You can try. I doubt that SS foil doubled up will play nice. I keep a box of .0015" and .001" around. Probably used the .0015" 5 to 1 over .001" until I started using reportedly undersize uppers. I seem to remember using .002" once. It must have been a hotdog down a hallway set up but can't...

    223 Ackley Improved

You can load a minimum charge if you wish but a standard 223 will probably work better. You want that case fireformed as much as possible the first firing (though I tend to get a completely fireformed case on the second firing). As others mentioned, I see very good accuracy when fireforming. I...

    6.5 Grendel

I never tried ARComp in anything. I knew it works across many calibers but have so many powders in that burn rate. I will say those velocities with 120+ listed with ARComp look nice.

    6.5 Grendel

Good question about temperature sensitivity. I know enough to know I don't know enough. That said, I never load jagged edge and don't run into problems. However, I typically shoot calibers that appreciate some pressure for best accuracy. Loading with hunting in mind, extreme heat of summer won't...

    6.5 Grendel

As mentioned above, TAC. I cannot get enough Varget in a Grendel case and N540 wouldn't be much different I suspect. The only extruded powder I use for the Grendel is XBR8208 as it is small and I can pack enough in the case. The spherical powders will pack tighter in that relatively small case...

    6.5 Grendel

If I never had tried LeverRevolution, AA2520 would be my go to powder for 120+ grain bullets. I still use it as it's very good on both velocity and accuracy in both of my Grendel's. I push them pretty hard and 2520 is very close to LeverRevolution. 2520 is usually considered a temperature...

    223 Ackley Improved

The freebore I asked Longriflesinc for mine was .050". It was short (the throat) but has worked well. I typically shoot the Berger 80 VLD but will shoot the 80.5 and 82 grain Berger's. I do jam the VLD .010". 25.5 grains of either Varget or Re15 and 450 primers. I haven't lost a Lapua case from...

    223 Ackley Improved

This is exactly what I was wondering. I can't say why but I have a similar experience as Kadams. I use either Winchester or Lapua brass and anneal every firing. In my case, I use a Co-Ax and my Redding bushing sizer will not bump the shoulders yet they don't grow any either. That stated, it...

Is bedding the AR barrel a myth? What's the best way?

A heavy walled upper, IMHO, is never a bad thing when you're trying to make the whole thing stiff and tight. I do not know how much trying to make an AR as stiff as possible helps but I do know no one would be satisfied with a wobbly bolt action. There is a whole lot more going on and a lot more...
